Any idea best places to get skinny/slim clothes. We have done old navy for jeans (thank god for adjustable waists!) but athletic type pants and shorts are a problem.... also shirts look incredibly baggy. makes me laugh,,, you can get anything in husky but slims harder to find!
to put this in perspective.. my almost 6 yr old son... still fits in 3t shorts... except they are unfashionably short for boy shorts,,,,

There is a great store here in Manhattan that is from Japan and ALL their clothes are not only slim, but elastic waist... plus you can't tell the waist is elastic, it is made to look like "regular" jeans, etc. www.bitzkidsnyc.com.

I love it! I hate how boys shirts are soo boxy, my boys are slim too!

I can relate! My daughter will be 8 yrs old this summer & is only 37LBS soaking wet! It can be such a challenge!

Old Navy works well for us as does Gap, Children's Place & lots of cloths at Kohls & JC Penney. We've had luck in the past w/ Polo (but they can be rather pricey if not from an outlet, etc...)

Hope that helps some!

My two boys are very slim as well. I love Land's End because they have slims that also have the adjustable waist....yes my boys need both. The prices are high but I can save them for hand-me-downs, so that helps. I also like being able to shop online and then return at Sears in case I need to exchange. I get so frustrated shopping for boys clothing in general, because where I live there is not much selection and then there are so few stores that carry any kind of slim sizing. Husky yes, slim no. Frustrating!

Carter's and The Childrens Place! My 6.5 yr old son still can fit in 4t, but I get him 5's with the adjustable waist and some slims and they fit him great!

I used to sew a strip of elastic into the back of my girls' jeans. For my boys, it's old Navy or Walmart. Both have pants with the adjustable waists. Athletic pants were impossible. My youngest son played soccer and had to hold onto the waistband of his shorts so they didn't fall down when he ran.

You might just have to do some quick stiches at the waist. That's what I had to do for my son.

Penney's has kids clothes in slims, so a size 5 slim is a size 4 around but a 5 in length. They also have some adjustable waist pants.

there is a product that pulls in the waist like a belt called dappersnappers. http://www.dappersnappers.com/ that should solve the problem!

My 5 year old still fits 3T -- in the waist-- length is obviously too short. We've had good luck with Tea Collection. There boys clothes seem to be cut pretty narrow. Also, Carter's seems to be OK. He has a pair of 4T jeans that fit great right now. If your boy is slim you know all too well how the adjustable waists get ridiculous in some brands. Janie and Jack, for example is enormous and the waist, when adjusted is way too bulky. Carter's waists seem to have less fabric so are less bulky when cinched in. Also, American Apparel has some great fitting plain T-shirts. They are not at all boxy like Gap and Hannah Anderson. I just ordered a slim swim suit from Land's End... Went down a size too and hoping it works. They do seem to offer quite a few of their items in slim. Good Luck.

old navy is good but so is childrens place. i would also checks some places like sears which also carry slim sizes. I know it is hard with the shirts as I have a skinny one at home who wears a 4t-5t for shirts and 3t on the bottom. Good luck

Lands End has "slims". We need to buy their bathing suits for our daughter due to the "gapping" in the groin. They're expensive but fabulous.

I think JC Penney's might too.

Old Navy clothes are huge on my son as well but pants from Gap seem to fit him much better, I have good luck at the Gap Outlet. I also find that pants from Carters fit well, again I get them at the outlet.

Abercrombie's clothes are for insanely skinny children (my daughter is 8 years old, 5' tall, and weighs 65 pounds... skinny, right? She can't button Abercrombie jeans!)

Gymboree/Crazy 8 also makes slim sizes. I've had good luck there.

I feel your pain. My 4 year old can still wear 24 month shorts except for the short part!

My favorite place for slim stuff is Crazy 8. Somehow it never seems to look too baggy on him, has the adjustable waist for most things, and is about as "skinny" as I can get it.

Athletic pants/shorts are always an issue. Children's Place has some better ones that seem to fit okay, but often times I just suck it up and roll them at the waist. Good luck!
