Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Put it on at night and you will see improvement by morning. Make sure she stays hydrated by drinking PLENTY of water.

At 6 yrs old, I would take her to a good dermatologist to make sure there are no underlying issues.

You'll have everyone on the site that sells cremes, potions, etc trying to sell you their product which might be a good product for an adult but not for a child.

Dermatologists recommend Cetaphil, Purpose soap and they also recommend some good cremes that could be over the counter vs Rx.

Best wishes!

After being checked by a dermatologist, use Shakleebaby Lotion.

Hi K.----I agree to make sure she is drinking enough water to keep adequately hydrated. Olive oil does make a great moisturizer. Another idea is to make sure she is getting enough quality omega 3 fats. Ground flaxseed is the best source as it also contains lots of fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals and anti-cancer properties as well. You can put it in cereal (we prefer hot as the 'fats' cause the flax to float on milk), pancakes and waffles, muffins and even sprinkled on salads. I have at least 1 T of freshly ground flax seed and occasionally take fish oil as well. Her diet, in general, will also impact skin health. Eat mostly plants and minimize animal protein and added preservatives, artificial colors & sweeteners, HFCS and MSG. Not only do we need to eat more veggies, we need to avoid negative ingredients as well.

To know what face creams are safest, or for any cosmetic at all, please visit www.ewg.org and look at their cosmetics database. They also have a pesticides in produce list, safe and effective sunscreen database as well as cell phones and the amount of radiation emitted from different models.

Good luck. D.

My son started with dry skin that turned into eczema so we went to the dermatologist. We buy Vanicream from Walgreens because its "formulated without dyes, lanolin, fragrance-masking fragrance, parabens, formaldehyde" It is expensive (about $17) but lasts a long time because it is really thick. The derm said the best thing to do is right after a bath apply the lotion because the skin is perfect at that time for accepting the lotion (up to 15 min after bath). Then apply a couple more times throughout the day. It has really helped even with the really raw red skin patches.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I have always used Eucerin lotion on my kids. They get dry, chapped skin but not eczema.

My girls faces get really dry too. I use Aquafor and it works great. It's for faces and lips.

You can treat the symptoms topically with cream, or you can nourish the entire skin (the body's largest organ) from inside with specific nutritional needs. I have friends whose kids have eczema, and a friend who is a nurse who has suffered with this since she was a baby. She's gotten relief in 2 weeks now that she has found the answer. I'll be glad to help you.
