Sit and Stand Strollers

I have a 4 yr old daughter and am due in Sept. I was wondering if other parents used a sit and stand stroller for an older child and a baby and what they thought of them. I know my daughter will not ride in it very much but I want to be safe and have the option for her. My problem is her size. I do not know if she will be too big at almost 5 by that point. What have other moms done and have they had any problems with their older child wanting to ride too?

What can I do next?

I have the older model of the sit and stand and LOVE it! I am due with our 3rd child in May and am going to buy the newer version of the sit and stand. It allowed our oldest one the freedom to get in and out whenever she was tired. The ONLY reason I did not like it was when we were going to be out for a while, as there was no where for my daughter to lay down if she had fallen asleep. But for errands, walks, zoo, etc. we used the sit and stand! Hope that helps!
Also I want to add, that my daughter is big for her age. She is on the scales of a 6 year old at 4. As far as the age and weight, they hold up great!!

Though I have never used the product I have seen an ad in the One Step Ahead catalog and website for an attachment for a stroller so that a sibling can stand and ride when they get too tired. This way you can choose whichever stroller you want and when she outgrows the "buggy" you can remove it.

I have a similar issue. My daughter will be almost 4 when I have my next baby. My daughter now would rather walk, but I wonder if once a baby is around, the older one wants to be in the stroller too. I found one at walmart where they have a seat for the small one and in back a place for an older child to stand or sit on a bench and ride. As far as how much weight it can hold: Rear platform and bench accommodate a child at least 2 1/2 years old and not over 40 inches in height or 45 pounds in weight.
I have also found some tandem strollers with Toddler seats that hold up to 40 lbs in each seat. Hope this helps a little and that you find something. Another thing I thought about was just using a wagon when it is convenient.

Unfortunately I was not impressed with the sit and stand stroller we have. I found it big and bulky and hard to steer. The only time it was of any good use was when we did the MN AIDS walk. Whenever our daughter got tired of walking she would stand or sit in the part for older kids to rest. We decided to get rid of ours as we did not want to keep something that we would use only once a year.

The best thing to do is go to Babies R Us and try one out. They had a couple on the shelf when I was there last time. That way you can see how well she fits on there. I don't think my daughter would like it because she's facing my stomach and can't see like if she was facing forward. I have 4 kids and just make the older 2 (3 and 4 year olds) walk along side and hold onto the frame. It works great.
Happy shopping,
J.

I have a Sit 'n Stand stroller that I use with my boys. My oldest was 3 1/2 when my youngest was born, and he was used to riding in a stroller because whenever we went shopping or out we brought a strollerfor him. I knew he was way too big for a double but still would want to ride, and I would wnat him to ride. So we got a Sit 'n Stand, and he's almost 5 now, my youngest is 18 months, and they both still ride in it, and we all still love it.

To me it was worth the $130 we paid for it, we've used it SO MUCH and its nice to have the option for my oldest to ride, and its not any bigger than a regular single stroller, and it folds just as flat.

So to me its worth it. My almost 5 year old still rides on it when we go shopping, he walks and rides, but likes having hte option.
