Hello, I am scheduled to go in for sinus surgery next week. I'm excited because I'm hoping the outcome will help alleviate my sinus problems. So that we can treat everything else and I can breathe at the same time:) I'm trying to get my week planned out for my kids and husband. Has anyone had sinus surgery? If so how was it after? I'm positive that surgery is diferent for everyone so everyones exerience is very important! Thank you inadvance!

All of the info below is great to hear! I haven't found anyone that has said not to do it:) Im sure every issue doesn't go away but if I could have more energy and not continually feel sick etc. life would be much more enjoyable! So I'm in the stages of getting everything organized for the week. My surgery is monday so I plan on getting foods etc. ready any other ideas that I might miss? The hardest is not being able to pick up my little one for a week. You never think about how many times a day you do pick them up! Thank you again for all of the great info!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, Thank you to everyone for the words of encouragement! I did the surgery last monday and I was in and out no wrries. The hardest part has been getting the energy back and the constant cleaning of my nose. Ughhh! It's not fun spraying saline up there every four hours. I definitely needed help with the kids since I wasnt allowed to pick anything up. We also have a great moms group that delivered food to us this week which was amazing! I'm still cleaning and getting stuff out but It does take longer than a week to get back to normal. I would say I'm about 65% at this point. I'm eating, healing and sleeping...thank you again!

dear M.,

I just had my sinus surgery this oct. I should start out that I can't handle pain at all. I stub my toe and feel like I will pass out. So for me while in surgery they broke my nose and then straightened it and then they cleared out the pockets under my eyes and then sawed a bone down and then opened up bothe nostrolis. The first day was horrible I had these huge cotton things in my nose that were so far in that they were in my throat. then I had this little blue mask that I had to keep on my nose for 24 hours. Because I had a hard time swallowing from the cotton in my throat I barley ate anything. Because of not eatting much and taking vicodin I got sick that night and the rest of the day. I went back to the doctors and they took out the cotton, what a relief. I got sick for the that night and then was finally able to keep things down the next morning. I was off all pain medicine as of monday and I had my surgery on friday afternoon. I still had a little bit of a hard time trying to remember not to blow my nose. But as for the pain it was gone. I went back that friday and they took out the splint. I had no problems with allergies or breathing since until I fell on my face last month. Would I have the surgery again, knowing my pain tolorance and knowing what I went through, yes in a heart beat. Good luck.

I had it last April and have not had any sinus issues since. I had it on a Wed, and by Saturday I felt back to my normal self. Only the first day there was slight discomfort but it was easily managed by Vicodin. I work full time with a preschooler so I was initially nervous ... But it was very manageable and I'm so glad I did it. Getting my wisdom teeth out was much worse! Good luck!

I had sinus surgery a few years ago, and you will be so glad you had it done! The surgery itself is a piece of cake. The recovery is quick, and from what I hear even quicker and easier than when I had it. You will not be of much use the first day, but will be back to your regular day to day stuff in no time at all. I have known several people who had the same thing, and I have never heard about anything except for quick recoveries and thankfulness for having done it.
