Sight Seeing in DFW

My parents will be in town next week. I would like to have a few ideas in my back pocket...things that will get us out of the house, but not break the bank. And with a rainy forecast for next week they need to be inside activities. We are not interested in the Fair. We have done the zoo and botanical gardens a few times. We are planning on trying out the Civil War museum (my dad is a big history buff). I wanted to do the Dallas Science museum, but you have to have a fair ticket to get in right now and the FW museum is still under construction and the Omni is the only part open. We will be getting out and about with a one year old and three year old. Any and all suggestions are welcome. TIA!

What can I do next?

Actually the Ft. Worth science museum has some of their children's exhibits set up in the Cowgirl Hall of Fame, your ticket gets you into both parts they change it every few months so I'm not sure what's there right now but the last time we were there there was a play grocery store, a play house, some science stuff and some space stuff as well as a few other things. Enough to keep my 3 year old occupied for well over 2 hours.
The Dallas World Aquarium is supposed to be pretty great, it's on Griffin St. near the West End.
If the weather isn't too bad the Stockyards are always something free to see. You don't say whether or not you've taken them there before. The Money Factory in Ft. Worth is worth a tour as well. They run free tours daily during the week, just go to their website for specific info moneyfactory.gov.
Hope this helps!

The Bureau of Engraving and Priting (where paper money is printed- only one of two places in the US that print paper money) is in Ft. Worth and they have a tour that is FREE. Can't beat that.

Here is the website:

I used to give tours out there when it first opened up and it is very interesting. The tour will actually take you through every step of the printing process where you will be on a walkway over the actual "factory". :)

I would suggest the Dallas World Aquarium, strolling around the Gaylord Texan, Bass Pro in Grapevine. Here's a list of some other DFW attractions - all with links, if anything sparks some interest: http://familyeguide.com/Worth-the-Drive.html.

Also check out a pumpkin patch or pumpkin farm while they're here:

You might want to look at our calendar to see if there's anything else the attracts your attention that week: http://familyeguide.com/user_vcalendar/week.php?id=3&sid=

Good luck!

I know this isn't insdie, but if its nice you should try and pumpkin patch. Its free, and fun for the kids. Could be cute photo opportunities with the grandparents.
