Today while I was getting groceries out of my trunk, I had several bags in both hands and a gallon of milk as well. As I was about to shut my trunk my daughter (3.5 yrs) came running up to the trunk and started to reach something in it but I had already started to shut it, so I went to push it back up before it slammed so her little fingers wouldn't get shut and I turned and bumped her forehead with the gallon of milk :( She was so mad at me...She said MAMA!!!! YOU HURT ME!!! and I kept saying Mama is sorry, baby, it was an accident :( I asked her if it hurt a few minutes after and she said no...I still feel horrible. I was just worried because the milk is so heavy, but she seems to be ok. Ughhh, my nerves get the best of me.

What can I do next?

I thought you were going to say you slammed her fingers in the truck--a bonk on the head with milk is no biggie! I routinely manage to wrack my three year old in the head with my butt--I don't know how I do it, but I go to back up or turn around and hit him and cause him to hit the door or wall or something. It happens!

Well, get used to it. If she's only 3 this will happen again and again and again... :)

I am not trying to make light of this, by any means. But, you only hit her with a milk jug and it wasn't on purpose. It didn't hurt her that badly, probably more shocked over it than anything. It's not like you hit her over the head with a frying pan!

I cut my poor 3 month old daughter with the nail clippers the other day while she was sleeping. Woke. Up. Screaming. She was bleeding all over the place......it was terrible. You'd barely know it now, it healed very quickly.

I guess my point is that being human, we are going to do way worse to our kids to traumatize them through their lives so we can't sweat the small stuff that they can actually heal from. And I say that to myself too! I am certain that when my daughter gets out of baby phase, she's going to end up in therapy from all my mistakes!

I am forever bumping my little baby boy's head on the car door when I am getting him in his car seat, he hates it and I feel like a dog!! My older son has had some licks from me as well, I think I stepped on his foot one time, that sucked. The worst thing ever was when I was about 5 months pregnant with my baby and my older son was like 20 months or so. I was at this bounce house place and I was walking with my son in my arms on concrete. This kid went whizzing by me and I completely lost my balance. I was trying to fall and protect my son in my arms and my son in my belly. I caught all my weight on one knee and still managed to land where the back of my son's head hit the concrete. I was a wreck, he was screaming, it was so traumatic. But all is well!! He will be four in a month or so and no worse for wear, baby 2 is 16 months and perfect and baby 3 is in the oven!! You will get over it, and she will be fine, accidents happen unfortunately......
