I think it's normal for kids that young in daycare to get sick that often. Both of mine did. The 1st 2.5 years they were sick October-March. They are 3 and 5 and they have not have one cold symptom this season!! YEAH!! I think they just need to build up their immune systems. It does get better. it's goign to happen now or later...depending when they start daycare or school. Get it over with now if you can.

Unfortunately, kids willl have a lot of cold being around other kids. They are building their immune system. If the kids are that sick then they should stay home for a day. He probably won't get it again so soon since he just had the cold.

This is pretty typical...Just make sure your sitter is santizing as much as possible and that your son is washing his hands etc...I am going through all of this right now with my three kids. Good luck

Find someone to take care of him in your home-and he will get fewer colds. Immunity to a cold only lasts for about three weeks-then he can get another one. Catching a cold is in no way beneficial-it doesn't strengthen immunity-in fact, I think it is debilitating.

it's possible he could get sick again, it just depends. there are so many different versions of the common cold, you can get them back to back to back. it can get ridiculous!

as for him getting sick a lot, much of it can be attributed to being around other people and picking up their germs. however, the more he is exposed to stuff now, as a little one, the less he will be affected when he is school-aged. my son is 7.5, and aside from one cough/runny nose each year around this time, he is healthier now that he is in school than when he was 3. he spent his pre-school years getting exposed to stuff and having colds and what have you, so he's less prone to it now. there is light at the end of sick tunnel!

Kids will get sick a lot when around other kids until they build up their immunity. He likely won't get the cold again so soon, although it it possible. He will likely get several colds for the next winter or two and then it should start to get much better. Around age 3-4, they get better at washing their hands and obviously aren't putting toys in their mouth and picking up other kids sippy cups etc. You could ask your childcare provider what she is doing to try and stop the spread of the germs. I have a botantical spray that I spray the air with a few times a day, especially if one of the daycare kids is coughing or sneezing a lot. Be sure she is cleaning toys that they play with more often this time of year, clean doorknobs etc that others use. make sure each child has their own facecloth for after snacks/lunches so germs are spread to other kids this way, you could even provide your own in a baggie that she can throw in your diaper bag and you wash yourself.
