My 5 year old has been sick it seems for a month now! She hasn't been this sick the entire time she has been alive. It started with coughing, low grade fever, and an ear infection (found that out when I took her to the doc). That was probably in the middle of january when it started. Now, it's Feb 14th and she has a stomach bug that she 'started' a week or less ago!! I've taken her to the doc four times!!! What else should I do?? Thanks.

ps-- her little sister has been sick almost as much as well

What can I do next?

All I can tell you is that it gets a bit better as they get older. My son's K teacher used to put the garbage can beside his chair (for the tissues)! First grade was pretty snotty but this year (2nd) he's only had O. "real" cold thing.
It's gotta run it's course. Default to the old standbys: rest, fluids, cool mist, elevate her bed, etc.
Hang tough, mom.

We don't spend as much time out in the sun in the wintertime so my family takes vitamin D supplements to make up for it. It's so helpful for the immune system. Also probiotics and a general multivitamin. Other than that we just try to eat lots of green vegetables and keep our fingers crossed. I hope things improve soon for your little ones!

Its that time of year. my little one seems to be sick from Xmas through Feb..soemtimes worse than others. I will say when she was really little (like 3 months old) she was never well...ear infection after ear infection...ended up getting tubes which was a God Send if your LO has 3 or more ear infections in 1 year, you should inquire to your peditrician about seeing an ENT doc. Too many infections can lead to hearing loss and Tube will help with the drainage from colds.
Sorry about the bug too..my daughter tested positive for the Flu and then got a GI diarreah bug a week later.. She is full time in daycare and its not fun. Only thing I can do is sanitze everything at home and do my best to keep her as clean as possible while she in my care. Yogurt is a great source of cultures for kids that help with the immune system too.

I'd up the green veggies, probiotics, vitamin D, omega3 and do sinus spray once a day. Good luck!
