I know new foods can make dogs have gas and diaherra but I don't think puking is normal for that. I would be calling a vet. They may have a bug or the food may be contaminated with something.
Can dogs get the tummy bug???? We have 2 dogs a german long hair pointer and a mini schnauzer. Last night and this morning they both had firm stools and ate breakfast really good. Then this afternoon the schnauzer is pooping everywhere and the pointer puked after drinking water. They were kenneled between this time (not together seperate kennels) They have been on the new bag of food for a week now so i dont think its the food. The schnauzer eats everything so I could see the poohs in him but the pointer doesnt eat tennis balls or stuffed animals like the schnauzer does so her puking is a bit odd. could it be a doggy tummy bug or should i be concerned about something else? they are up to date on shots and they do go to the dog park.

Take your dog to the Vet.
An animal can get dehydrated too, from puking/diarrhea, just like a human.
Well it's common for dogs to digest something that they shouldn't have. I would suggest withholding all food for 24 hours. You should still offer water but if the water keeps coming up give some ice so they won't drink too much. If you have a "food driven" dog you should keep a close eye on him. If symptoms are both vomiting and diarrhea, I would suggest a trip to the vet. Not trying to scare you but I've seen some of these kinds of situations go south really quickly. To check for dehydration you can pinch up the skin around the neck area and the skin should pop back down quickly if not this is a sign of dehydration. As for a tummy bug, well it's not that common. The common one is Parvo/Distemper, but that is more common is a young pup. Bottom line I would just watch them for the next 24 hours and fast them. If symptoms do not subside or more are starting to show up, I would take them to the vet. Try if possible to keep them confined so you will know if they poop or vomit.

When my dogs are pukey, I give them liquid PeptoBismol- my dogs are little, so like 1/2 tsp-1 tsp...bigger dogs like 1 tsp-1Tbsp every 4-6 hours. I put it in a syringe and hold their head up, squirt it in and then massage their throat to get them to swallow! It is safe for doggies and settles their tummy! I would withhold food for 24 hours and then start with chicken and white rice (I boil the chicken for 30 mins...makes it easy to shred) for a day and then mix 1/2 dog food/1/2 chicken and rice for the next 24 hours. If the vomiting continues for over 24 hours or they get lethargic/feverish, take them in!
They can get bacteria in their system (common one is Giardia) which will give them diahreah and might cause them to puke. To firm the stools, give the pumpkin (canned - although might be hard to find this time of year - no suger in it, just canned pumpkin). But I would also call the vet.
It does sound like giardia- are they vaccinated for that? Give cooked hamburger and rice in small amounts for 1 day. If they still have symptoms, or if their feces has a putrid/ uncommon smell get them to the vet. It could just be a bug. It could also be coincidental for one and the other one has giardia, or has eaten something that is unable to get through their system. GL & keep us updated.
Sounds like they have something. I would definitely call the vet asap.
Call the vet. With them both being sick, I would be worried they both got in to something. It could be the change in food. If you just switched, without mixing the foods giving their bodies time to adjust, it could make them sick.
Good Luck!
