We are expecting our third child in November and we didn't find out boy/girl. I'm having so much trouble with names! We have a Nicholas James (4 y/o) and an Alessandra Savina (2 y/o). We usually use their nicknames, Nick and A.. I'm looking for a name that goes well with both and our last name begins with a "W". Some names I like but have already been chosen by family or close friends are: Olivia, Thomas, Andrew, Benjamin, Alexander (too close to Alessandra). Thought I'd poll other mom/dads out there to see if you have any good name suggestions!
Thanks!!

So What Happened?

Thank you mamas/papas! TONS of name suggestions and I've added most to my list :) My husband and I love Isabella for a girl...plenty of cute nicknames for that name and goes well with my middle name, Marie. As for boy names, well...I need to bring my list with me to the hospital...boys names are tough!!! You guys are the best...I had so much fun reading through all the name suggestions and can't wait to know if this little one is a boy or girl and to finally choose a name!!

You are the best! xxoo

I really like the name Andrew and it was near the top of my list for my son. I also like the nickname Andy. Problem is, my husband and I don't like the nickname Drew, so we were hesitant to go with that one. But I still love it. It's also not very common right now, so he probably won't have other Andrew's at school. There are lots of Ben/Benjamin's right now.

My son is Josh and I am still really happy we picked it. I think it works with Nick and A., too.

congrats on your impending arrival!

I rarely recommend this name, but for some reason....as I read your post, this name jumped out at me: Elizabeth ....& call her Lizzi. I know it's a name seldom used, but I noticed that the other names are also very traditional.

For a boy, I tried sticking with traditional. What about Henry (Hank) or Jonathan (Jon)?

I have an Andrew, so I'm very partial to that name.

But, if my husband would have agreed to it, I'd have a Benjamin or a Thomas.

I do love Olivia. If I had a daughter I'd name her Elena Marie.

Your kids have such beautiful, classic names! If I were naming a sibling for a Nicholas and an Alessandra, I would go with something Italian in origin, but with wide appeal.

In other words, I reeeally think you should name a little boy Luca, and call him Luke. So much so that I'm not even going to recommend any other boys' names for you. ;)

For a girl, what about:

Lucia (and call her Lucy)
Chiara (pronounced kee-ARE-uh)
Julianna
Isabella (reeeally popular right, but it'd sound great with your other kids' names)
Sophia (likewise, ridiculously popular, but it'd sound great with Nicholas and Alessandral you could call her Sophie)

Nicholas and Alexandra also have strong Greek and Russian histories as names; if you want Greek- and Russian-inspired names, just let me know.

I like "old" names...
My kids both have very old names - Matthew Phillip and Emma Louise. They both yell quite well and their initials don't spell anything weird. :)

I loved playing with nymbler.com when I was pregnant. You can put in the names you already have in your family and it generates complementary names. So much fun. Naming the 1st is easy, the rest are harder. LOL.
