In my experience, it is from the bananas. Your baby most likely does not have worms. It is completely normal for children who start to eat the "real bananas" to have stringy colored poop.
I found short little reddish/ brown strings in my babies poop tonight. He is about 6 1/2 months old and started eating solids a little bit ago. He had a banana a couple days ago and hasn't pooped since then, so im guessing its from the banana? Hes had banana before but it was from a jar, this one was just mashed up.
I am with him 24/7 so i know he didn't eat anything weird.
Do they de-string the bananas for baby food jars? or should i be worried that he is allergic or has worms or something?

Yup, same thing happened to my little guy, and I took him to the Dr's when I didn't know what it was and thought he had worms. They confirmed it was bananas and not worms. Scared me when I first saw it in his poop! All is well.
Yes, those are the banana seeds found in fresh bananas. Very normal and very healthy.
It sounds like everyone else knows that this is just digested banana. . . after 2 kids, I didn't know this but I do know one thing - if you worry about every weird little thing in their poop, you are going to drive yourself nuts! :-) I've never seen so much weird stuff in my life - green chunks, whole bits of food, red poop from beets, bright blue poop from blueberries, whole seeds. Unless it is something REALLY weird, it is most likely nothing. Don't worry!
It can't hurt to call the pediatrican and ask. Hopefully it is nothing. I don't think my kids ever had that.
It's probably not worms or he would be fussy and acting
like something is itching him and bothering him.
The banana that you mashed up . . .
did you get all the strings off it?
Try no fresh banana for a few days
and see if there are any more strings.
