"Shapewear"..What Is Your Favorite Piece? Anything Hide a Post-partum Pooch?

I am looking to hide my c-section "flap" and tummy, WITHOUT something that accentuates the "muffin top" (I tried Spanx and that's exactly what it did). Any products/links would be helpful. :)

Hey, S., I was shopping for "foundations" for under a dress, and found something I will probably wear all the time! I just got it Wednesday at Macy's, and it's actually comfortable.

Nordstrom sells something for just this for appx $60, or you can get them at the link below for $30. They are fantastic and she custom makes each one, so you have to send in your exact measurements. She can also make them for the nursing mom. Really, these will take care of the muffin top and will not roll up as long as you send in your true measurements.

I wish I had some suggetions, but I just have to call a childish "UNFAIR" here to the fact that men will flaunt their scars from battle while women try to hide the proof of what we went through! Carrying a child is a long 9-month battle. Delivering that child is war. Raising that child is Armageddon!!! We sacrifice our bodies to birth them, and we sacrifice our diets and our exercise routines while we raise them. I'm a fitness professional, so I'm certainly NOT saying that we mamas should just get fatter and fatter, but give yourself time to heal. I've seen plenty of naked women in lockerrooms, and none of them has a flat belly! ... unless they're wearing Spanx :)

I actually wear a brand called "Sweet Nothings" from Walmart. They have several different styles depending on how much "restraint" you want or need. I bought 2 different kinds of camis. One is lighter, kind of silky, but helps to smooth out the flub if I am wearing a loos-ish fitting top. The other is stretchy and much tighter, but not uncomfortable at all. I wear it under almost anything, from tees and jeans to dressier tops and slacks. It does not accentuate my muffin top unless I don't tuck it in properly and it later in the day rides or scrunches up. But I can wear either of these all day and it doesn't bother me. Absolutely buy jeans that fit propery. This makes a HUGE difference. Make sure the waist is mid-rise, not too high (under your boobs) not too low (more than 3 or 4 inches below your belly button.) Make sure they fit your hips and thighs, and have a boot cut or flared bottoms. (If you are tall and thin, you can do "skinny" jeans, but I'm not tall and thin, I'm short and slightly curvy.)
I like the camis because they are less restrictive and more comfortable then the "panty" style. I bought one pair of tummy control exspensive brand "panties" (or whatever) a few weeks after my second child was born and they did just what yours did, pushed all the excess to the top so it spilled over... yuck.
Good Luck! Hope this helps a little.

I really like the Spanx 'Slim Cognito' body shaper. I'm hoping I can cut the panty part out of it and just wear it over my stomach. It goes all the way up to my bra, so there's nothing spilling out in the way of muffin top...

Good luck! I'm totally with you... My baby turns 7 months old next week and I've still got it..

I also like the "Sweet Nothings" from WalMart, they are great, come in many colors and are comfy to wear. I have a lot of excess skin and "flubber" on my belly from having my kids, and it feels a lot more comfortable to wear something that helps me hold it in, that is supportive. I also have had trouble with Spanx, because I have long legs and a short torso....doesn't quite fit me that well.
God Bless!

I LOVE spanx. Maybe you tried the wrong style? I like the one that goes from below the knee to the bra line. I think it's called Higher Power. It hid the back fat and the c-section flubber as well as the muffin top.

I don't think that you tried the right Spanx. You need the kind that come up to under your bra. I like Assets at Target-made by the Spanx Co. but cheaper. Also-important to wear clothes that fit-especially jeans with a higher rise.
