Separating Blender Pieces

Hi moms,
My teenaged son put my blender back together after it was washed but he put it together wrong! I guess he was showing how strong he was! Now I can't get it apart to fix it. I've tried and my husband has tried. He finally suggested I ask you moms if you had any idea what to do. It's a glass blender and won't bend. I'm at my wits end. Please help because I don't want to throw it away. TIA

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks! It worked. Mamasource comes through for me again. Thanks you again.

My first thought is to soak it in hot water. My second thought is to spray it with WD-40. That stuff gets anything unstuck. Good luck

Oh heavens, don't throw it away! Give it to your son to begin his collection of household items he will need to start his own place when he is on his own. You see, he will not appreciate much until he begins to take care of himself and at some point in the (distant) future, he will appreciate this appliance for the lesson it taught him.

Meanwhile, there are wonderful sales on right now and you and your son can go pick out another blender that he can buy for you! No anger or lecturing necessary, just a great round of shopping / bonding between you and your strong, handsome adolescent boy.

I have raised two strong handsome boys who thought my stuff was really "fun" to screw with. I used to get mad - then changed my tactics and took them shopping. It was amazing how quickly the "accidents" with my stuff came to a screeching halt. I highly recommend it.

Don't forget to tell then how much you really like the new blender and how much it means to you that it came from your beloved son.

Discipline is not about being mad at your kids. It is about training them up to prepare them for the responsibilities of the future. Look at this situation as an opportunity to teach your son a valuable lesson he needs for his life. Then quit straining to unscrew the blender and begin to strain forward to claim the prize: a responsible, respectful son who values you and the possessions that you provide. Good luck, mom!

Have you tried running under really hot water (the hottest you can get at your sink- I wouldn't microwave the water) to shrink the plastic/ glass? I have done this before with jars I cannot open too. Good luck.

you can try boiling water but if the bottom is plastic be careful. Use hot pads to to grab the bottom and twist it off. you can also try soaking it down in some oil so it seeps in the seams.

Put the piece in the freezer overnight. Anything hot will expand it. Cold contracts.

Since it's glass, I usually put it back in the blender itself and then try to turn it. I can usually get the seal to break then. Good luck!!!
