Sensory Processing (Integration) Disorder - Excellent Treatment

Well, what was originally thought to be Attachment Disorder has now (very clearly!) turned into Sensory Processing Disorder. My 5-year-old's symptoms are text-book. I'm somewhat relieved to be finding answers to the craziness and challenges I've been trying to manage with my daughter for 4 years. At the same time I'm a little overwhelmed with the information and in seeking appropriate treatment. I want to find the best Occupational Therapist with expertise in SPD in the region. Of course would prefer a location as close to Flower Mound as possible, but again expertise and a track record is more important to me. If you've had experience with SPD or know someone who has, PLEASE let me know who you've worked with.

Thank you so much! I'm so eager to get started. ;o)

I am a speech therapist in the schools and I know several of my students who receive private OT go to the Pediartic Therapy Center. Here is the information 1104 N Elm St
Denton, TX ###-###-####. I also know the school OTs recommend this clinic for "traditional OT" and sensory issues.
I also personally know the owner/OT at Hope Pediartic in Denton - the name may have changed to Focus on Sensory. Her main focus is sensory. Another place to check is Our Children's House at Baylor. They have several locations. My son got OT services for sensory feeding issues. We had to go the Allen site for this. You may also want to check with your insurance company to see what places are covered.

My son goes to Our Children's House at Baylor and he loves it! I live in Flower Mound also and the drive is not bad. It takes me 20 minutes to get there.

We started down the same path in May. If you ever need anyone to talk to, please feel free to send me an email. Things do get better!

My four year old son sees Cindy McKenna at Pediatric Therapy and Activity Center just off of Corinth Parkway on 35N in Corinth. My son doesn't have what you are describing but I know Cindy sees many children that do because she's told me about some of the different diagnosis that she works with. I think she's great and my son really loves her. Her "gym" is so inviting and so kid friendly, we did time at OCH and frankly, it seemed too sterile and my son was scared to death of the place....

My son goes to Our Children's House at Baylor, Coppell. We love it there! I've also heard good things about the other locations.

You'll need a referral from your pediatrician and then OCH will contact you for an evaluation.

Also, there is a place in Farmer's Branch that is great for supplementing the activities from therapy. My son went to one of their one week camps and had a wonderful time. And we'll be going back for their drop-in play as well as tutoring.
