I need to find other parents out here (Kane County) whose children have sensory issues. Right now I'm feeling pretty alone & could use someone to talk to about the schools & therapists in the area.

What can I do next?

Definitely take your child to preschool screening when he turns 3. You may be able to get free preschool out if it! Also, contact the Early Bird program in Oswego's school district at ###-###-#### and Mariann can give you information on play groups that she hosts.

A.,
My son has this too. He is developmentally delayed and goes to Hope Wall preschool. He is also in PT and has been since he was 9 mths. I also live in Kane county in Aurora. I would love to talk. I want to get a support group started since the school doens not have one in place now of moms with kids who have delays. I also stay at home. Where do you live?

Also call the DayOne Network which used to be called Child & Family Connections of Kane/Kendall Counties. It is on Fabyan Pkwy. just East of Kirk Rd. It is the Early Intervention provider for Kane County. They can hook you up with evaluations, therapies, etc. before your son gets into school.

My daughter (almost 6 years old) has some sensory issues, and it has been tricky getting her what she needs and recognizing what is sensory-related and what is not. Another great resource is Marget Wincent -- she is an OT who I believe is out of Wasco. She is THE person in the area for therapies such as listening music therapies for sensory and attention issues (among others). She is fantastic. Let me know if you need some more assistance or just want to talk. I am happy to do either.
