Seeking Used Backyard Wooden Playset

I would like to purchase a used backyard wooden playset in great condition. I am not sure when I can look to find one and make sure I am not paying for something that is not stable for my little boy. We just simply cannot afford to pay full price for a new one.

What can I do next?

We just got one off Craigslist a few weeks ago. It was a really fancy Rainbow swingset and we got it for FREE! You have to move fast on those things, but we lucked out. It needed some work, but we've fixed it up and it looks brand new.

Craigslist!!!

We got our Rainbow off there last year for a GREAT price. I know there are tons of wooden playsets listed this year compared to last year... Good Luck!!

Hi S.,

I just wanted to let you know that my sister and her family are moving and are looking to get rid of their sons playset. It is a nice wooden one that is still in great condition. I think they paid close to $1000.00 for it 2 years ago and are now looking to get rid of it for around $300.00. They live in Baldwin, WI so I am not sure if that is to out of the way for you or not. If you are interested my sisters name is Emily and her husbands name is Matt - their home phone number is ###-###-#### or feel free to send me an e-mail back too. Hope this helps.

Have you tried looking on craigslist? I know they often have listings for used playsets. Good luck!

My husband and I just finally bought and put one together (after being in our home for 6 yrs). After putting one together I'm not sure how easy or cost effective it is to take it out and transport. You may want to start with some of the retail outlets to see if they have any closeout or minor defective (but still safe) play systems. They may also have customers who upgrade and can get you in touch with someone who may have a used one replaced, that way you know it was disassembled properly by the people who build them (a stretch bit worth looking into). Hope this helps :)

Check out craig's list or freecycle.com. Freecycle is a yahoo group and all stuff on it is free. You can post stuff that you no longer need and get stuff you do need.

HI S.:

We have a used Rainbow system that our kids have grown out of. It is in good condition. We paid $2500. It has a wooden ramp with ropes to hang onto to climb up , a slide, monkey bars, 3 swings, 2 regular and 1 infant, a fort and a picnic table below the fort. It would need to be stained.

We got one from Menards for under $200. It's small with a slide and 2 swings and a SMALL covered platform, but it's great for our son!
