Try the Chicago Park District. They have very well supervised summer programs. My grandchildren go every summer and they love it. You have to register NOW because the Summer Program slots fill up early.
Can anyone share ideas of an affordable summer camp or activities that my daughter can participate in this summer? I work during the day from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday thru Friday. So...I need somewhere to take her before I start work and I will pick her up after work by 6:30p.m.

Funny - my advice is exactly as the first one. The Chicago Park District summer day camp program is wonderful. Nearly all of my working friends send their kids and they all love it. But, definitely register now. I was on the website late last week and Mann Park only had 14 spaces still open.
I was bumped out... don't know if any of my message got through. I am also going it mostly alone raising my six year-old daughter. She attends an afterschool program at the YMCA Lakeview, which is decent for the cost. I looked into various summer camps, and their exorbitant rates made the amount the Y charges for camp seem reasonable. So I signed my daughter up for theater camp at the Y, which is new this year. Kids attend drama classes in the morning, and then join regular campers in the afternoon for swimming, field trips, etc. This option is more expensive than others: $210 per week, which is the member rate. The Y's afterschool program hours are until 6 p.m., so I think the camp would also just be until 6 p.m.; however, you'd have to check.
What area are you in? I have a friend that does summer camp/Day care as well as myself. We are License by the state. Email me at ____@____.com and I will help you find who and what you are looking for:)We also go out on trip, bowling, skating, swimming, and the the zoo and other places.
