Seeking Quality Preschool in Farmington Area...

Hi! My son is 3, will be 4 in November and I was thinking of enrolling him into Preschool. But I really don't know where to start. First off, he is not potty trained, so I'm not even sure a school will accept him. (We have been training for a long time now, but I think his day care providers are not giving him the attention he needs to fully train him...I'm pretty upset about that.) So anyhow, does anyone know of a good preschool in Farmington or where I should go to get more information?

What can I do next?

WoodCreek Elem. has a preschool program beginning in the fall. Farmington Public Schools also has a preschool program. Go to the farmington public school website to get more info. Hope this helps. Sekeita.

My son goes to Sunny Daycare/Montessori, and they have a preschool there. It is in downtown Farmington behind Fitness 19/Office Depot. Its not exciting from the outside but I absolutley LOVE it, and can't say enough great things about it. You can drop by anytime for a tour and ask for Sue or Theresa (the owners).

Depending on how many days you want him in preschool, I can highly recommend Garfield Cooperative Preschool in Livonia. The teacher is amazing, and even though it is cooperative, you can pay extra to not have to work. Also, if I remember correctly, your child does not have to be potty trained.

Hello E.:
First, congrats on working your degree while being work full-time and being a Mom!!
Regarding a pre-school in the Farmington area, I highly recommend you consider ECHO PARK. It is a private, non-profit preschool located on 12 Mile Road just east of Middlebelt. It has a fabulous reputation in Oakland County and has existed for over 47 years! They built a new building around 2001 that is designed specifically for little ones. They focus on providing an amazing school experience for children from Tot through Kindergarten. They have a wonderful staff and understand the importance of social and emotional development as well as academic. They also offer summer camp which is a fun way to start a child prior to the school year. In regard to potty training, my daughter has some challenges in that regard and they have been understanding and have worked closely with me to make strides through positive approaches. So, even if they prefer to have children potty trained for some classes, they remain open and flexible to special situations. You can learn more about them at www.echopark.org or ###-###-####. I'd especially encourage you to visit the school. If your child attends Echo Park, he will have a great start for sure! Hope this is helpful.

Our pastor, Steve Whitney and his wife, Kathy, own Bloomfield Whitney on Pontaic Trail west of Orchard Lake Rd. If you would like more information come to our service on a Sunday morning at the Vineyard Church of Farmington Hills on Shiawasee Rd just east of Middlebelt Rd. Service starts at 10:30 am and there is a nursey that your son can go to if you wish or you may keep him in service with you, this is your decision to make.

Hi,
Not sure where you are in Farmington but Little Lambs Preschool at Christ our King Lutheran Church is wonderful and I know many people that have sent there kids there...including me. I can't say enough good things and the curriculum is unbelievable! My kids are 4th/6th grade and they still talk about their days at Little Lambs and love to look at the photos and projects from preschool. It is a Christian preschool, but not Lutheran specifically (they say prayers before snacks, etc. not heavy on religion). It is located on Farmington Road 1/2 way between Plymouth and Joy Rd. (at West Chicago) in Livonia. The phone is ###-###-####...Mrs. Jan is the director and has been running the program there for 20+ years.
But...they do have to be potty trained. Maybe by the beginning of the next school year (Sept) he will be!
Good Luck!
