I too have a child with a heart defect. She is 18 months old and her heart defect is Tetralogy of Fallot. She has had 2 open heart surgeries and she was born with other medical conditions as well. I don't know if your familiar with caringbridge.com, but it is a great web site to link with parents of children with special health care needs.

My youngest child was a 26 week preemie, and he has an ASD, but it will require no treatment. I know you requested a mother who has gone through a heart defect with her child, but my son has had 7 surgeries regarding his bowels. He had an ostomy until last year.He had staph and gangrene from bowel perforations. He fought hard for his life. We even had to have our funeral home on alert for him. I do know exactly what you are going through! I changed after that, in many ways. Depression, panic attacks, and so much more. You are just never the same once you hand your baby over, not knowing what will happen. I will be praying for you. I really do understand.

I am very sorry to hear about your youngest. It must be rough. I don't have any children. I am 7 months pregnant however. I can only imagine what you are going through. I really don't know what advice to give you but you and your family will be in my prayers. I hope everything works out. Let me know and I hope to hear from you soon. Good luck.

Well K.,
I am happy to hear that my sister-in-law is not alone. I am going to have to let her now about you and that you would love to have someone to talk to who knows what ya'll are going through b/c her son has a really bad heart defect also. He turns blue all the time and he will not ever beable to play sports or anything. She can talk to you more but let me tell her about you and I bet you could help her and she could help you b/c I know it must be hard on you not know day by day what will come up because it is hard on her i know.
