Valley Care does not allow VBAC's, and I don't think that SR does either. OB-GYN Specialists at John Muir will do VBAC's. Many area homebirth midwives will also do home VBAC's. Or you can head out to Berkeley for Alta Bates. Good luck!
Hi there -
Looking for a good reference to a (female preferred) OB GYN in the Tri-Valley area. Preferably someone who is willing to consider a VBAC and at either Valley Care in Pleasanton or at SR Regional in San Ramon.
Thank you in advance for your recommendations!

I really liked Dr Barbara Newman at Valley Care in Pleasanton. She's wonderful. Very kind and sincere yet tells it to you straight. Good luck
Had my first daughter with Dr. Joanne Vogel and definitely will not see her the second time around. She has little to no bedside manner and really lacking any kind of warmth to her. The only reason we continued through with her the first time was because she does know her stuff and honestly there are not a lot of options when your looking for a female within John Muir's Network with HN. Second go around will definitely be with a male since there are a lot more options. I would go and have a consultation with her before you commit to anything. Best of luck!
I agree with the other post. I am currently a patient of Dr. Vogel and she is great. Just delivered my happy 5 month old daughter.
I loved them! They helped with 3 of my 4 in water births my last one was in the hospital because we were not sure the little one would let interrupt the beautiful process but had a husband ob and wife midwife combo at Washington hospital which was quick and easy only drawback was it was not at home. :-) I wish I could have more babies but alas my hubby is exhausted with the 4 :-)
Dr. Micheal Bleeker in Livermore delivers at Valley care. I had my last baby with him 7 years ago. At that time he had a midwife with him, Bea Haber. They were talking about opening a birth center.
You know, doctors who are on call for births, are often working MANY hours without sleep. They dedicate their lives to being there around the clock for women who are giving birth. So they can be solemn at times, and may not be bubbly and talkative the way women desire them to be.
Bleeker has moments where he is solemn. But I'd give up bubblyand talkative for competency anyday, and that he certainly is. He believes in a woman's ability to birth, and trys not to interfere. He does VBAC. I had my first baby- 10 lb. baby - with no episiotomy with him.Any other docotr would have probably opted for c section because I was in labor a long time. He didnt. He let my body do what it needed to do. He and his midwife also prefer a woman walk rather than be strapped down with a monitor while in initial stages of labor.
Before I went to see him, I went to a female doctor in Pleasanton. I think her first name was Michelle. She had her hand on the doornob the whole time I was trying to ask her questions. She couldn't get out of my room fast enough- the minute she stepped out I told my husband I wasn't coming back to her office. Dr Bleeker NEVER did that to me. I had all three children with him. I knew I was safe in his hands. My twin sister opted to go with a lady doctor out in fremont, who ended up giving her a c section because she had had previous fibroids, and then another c section one with her second, just because sh had already had one. Dr bleeker would have let her have a natural birth (both times).
I highly recommend Dr. Vogel in San Ramon. She was my OB/GYN before I switched to Kaiser, and I do miss her! She is a very patient, thorough and top-notch doctor. She delivers at San Ramon Regional Medical Center which is super close to her office on Camino Ramon. Good luck to you!
