S.,
We werer in the same exact situation. Actually bought a cheap king size mattress. Then went to Costco and bought one of those memory foams. Works great, feels like an expensive mattress. Just an option. Good luck.
Hello moms - My husband and I have been co-sleeping with our son since he was about 9 months old. We absolutely love it except we are quickly growing out of our Queen size bed. I've been trying to shop around for a king size mattress for a VERY reasonable price since we are are a budget at the moment. I've seen those signs on the side of the road and I've searched craigslist and have found a lot of advertisements for kind sized mattresses around $300, new in plastic (so they say). My question is have any of you bought a mattress through one of these places or have any suggestions on a good trust worthy place. I want to trust that the mattress I purchase is new and not just recovered with bed bugs hiding in them...blah! Thanks so much!

Hi S.- we have bought 2 mattresses from R&S Mattress Factory. They were for the kids, and very inexpensive. One way around buying a super expensive one is to spend a little less and buy a fiberbed or featherbed topper from overstock.com. It pretty much makes any mattress feel great. But you can also get some pretty god stuff at R&S pretty inexpensively. If you will buy a non matching set they will also give you a great deal. Good Luck!!!!!
A really good place to go is IRCA on Greenway and just east of Cave Creek. It's a hotel and resort liquidation store....yes the mattresses are new.... my husband and I bought our king sized...(need due to co-sleeping) we bought it there for $375 box spring and all. This is a foam and spring mattress...VERY NICE. My mom also bought from there, she bought the same quality but queen. No problems, very clean and new...alot of other great stuff too. check it out.
Hi S.,
My advice to you is to never buy those cheap mattresses! My husband and I tried to go with a cheap king size mattress and it about killed my back and there was practically nothing to the mattress itself. It even put a dent in the middle of the bed because the mattress had barely any support at all. I would definitely try and invest more money in your mattress because the recovery your body makes during your sleep is very important to your overall health. My husband and I went to Mattress Outlet and bought a king size mattress and boxspring for around $500. Well worth it! It wasn't like we were able to purchase right off the bat though, we had to put it on a credit card because we sure didn't have that kind of money on hand. The way life is now a days, you almost need a credit card to survive. Good luck finding your mattress! Get a good one, brand new...'no bed bugs'..LOL G.

I would say to invest in a good mattress too..... a year down the road you wont want to have to dish out another 300-400 bucks for a new one....
Hi S.,
A couple years ago I bought a new queen mattress for our guest room from the Tanaka Gallery furniture store in Mesa. It's on Main St, between Stapley and Gilbert roads, I believe. Anyway, I paid $179 for a queen mattress and box spring, and it was decent quality, and was new. They were very nice and helpful there, and I think delivery was only $40. You might go check them out - you can actually see all the mattress sets they have - they are bagged in plastic in a back room. I would imagine their king size sets would be somewhere near your budget range. Good luck and hope this helps!
I don't know how much they cost but I do know that the mattresses are hand-made and a lot cheaper than elsewhere. It's on Grant past Swan. They sell furniture too and it's on the right side going west on Grant. We got a queen mattress last year and we just love it.
