Hi! I've been running a home daycare for 3 years now. I'm not really sure what state that you're in, but in my state the Health Department is responsible for daycare licensing. Figuring out whether or not you could afford to do it should be pretty simple. Find out what your allowable ratio is (here we can have 6 full timers and 3 before and after schoolers). Then, find out how much other daycares are charging. From there you can figure out how much you could make. My guess is that in order to have what you need, you would not have to have a lot of children. But it all depends on your own family budget.
I love this job and love staying home with my own children. It has allowed me to actually know my own children and to raise my own children. I've also been able to start homeschooling! This has been an amazing experience. Good luck!
