There's tons of groups out there for mothers of pre-schoolers, but has anyone heard of groups for mothers of teens in or near the Chandler area? It would be great to connect with other moms in the same phase of life as me. All I hear about is diaper rash, potty training and thumb sucking! What about dating, driving, acne, moodiness and college scholarships? Us moms of teens need to support each other too!

Well, since no one has heard of a group for Moms of Teens, I'm starting one myself! If you want info on our first get together, e-mail me and I'll give you the info.

Hey my dear friend, P.! I didn't know you were on here! =) CCC is starting a new group called "SMILE" (Supporting Moms In Love Everyday). I'm not sure when the kickoff is, but I know it is geared more towards women with school aged children. Not sure if it goes all the way up to teens, but it is not the MOPS that we both love so much. =) If you wanted more info, you can stop by the information desk and talk to Luanne.

We miss seeing you guys every week! Where are you going to work? E-mail me! Take care!

Boy, am I with you! I have been wishing/wanting to have something like that at our church for the parents of the Jr. High and High School. There are so many more issues today than our parents had to deal with. I have seen so many parents of teens at their wits end and they have no one to share their frustrations with. Unfortunately, I have not heard of any support groups for parents of teens. It's good to know I'm not the only one who thinks it's a good idea.

P.: I hear you. I have three children also.3. My oldest is so busy with Honors classes and spending time with friends and working (rarely had time to drive over the summer). We have been dealing with all those issues, dating, driving, and especially moodiness at times. That is what the teenage years seem to be all about. Not to mention at times dishonesty, which as a parent is one of the hardest things to deal with I believe. And being embarrassed and irritated by us no matter what we say or do. If we show interest we are being too nosey. If we don't ask questions or show interest because we are trying not to upset them then we are uncaring. And horrors if you slack off of your motherly duty and let the house run out of milk or snacks, etc.

Oh, and do you ever feel like the pressure to raise these kids into good reasonable adults is so much you just want to scream! If so, I'm there with you!!!! Or maybe even have a good cry.

P.: If you have a honors students (I have only one at this point) you may be able to get a full ride scholarship if they keep a high GPA and do well on the AIMS. You might want to check into the high school website or talk to the counselor on this issue. We are really praying ours gets a full ride scholarship (of course it has to be to an in state college).

I honestly think the teen years are so much harder than the younger years. I myself have been trying to go back to school and with everything going on at home it is really hard at times. I think they need us more (though they don't admit it as they get older).

Well if you want to email me privately and talk about any of the stuff you are going through you are welcome to do that just click on the private tab.

Take care,
K.

A little about me:

A SAHM, going back to school, of three kids two girls, 16 and 14, and a son who is 13. I am a writer and am in the middle or writing a book, and praying that someone finds it worthy of printing. I love to write poetry (songs) too. Although, I do not know how to read music there is a tune in my head with some of the words to my poems. I love to quilt but my carpal tunnel is preventing that at this time.

If you are looking for an online group (with local friends as well) please join http://theparentboard.com There are quite a few moms of teens and we could all use the support and sharing some stories.
