I'm looking for some new recipes using whole grains and beans, with no meats, wheat or dairy. Anyone want to share?

My kids eat lots and lots of beans their fav is refried black beans. I cooked them from dry, in the crock pot, adding onions, garlic, cumin, cilantro, salt, pepper, and sometimes other spices, a little vegetable juice/tomatoes or other veggies. Lately (after reading worlds healthiest foods - www.whfoods.com - check it out for great recipes) Anyway I puree it in the bender with olive oil and adobe seasoning with cumin, the boys love it with rice and tortillas. They love quinoa, lentils, and other beans. You should check out that book -- it is awesome! It is also awesome that you homeschool your kids, I am just beginning to! I also get good recipes from GillianMckeith.com

My kids love this...

Stir Fry Sauce

¼ Cup Tamari
1 ¼ cup water
1 TBL sugar (eliminate if using seasoned rice vinegar)
1TBL rice vinegar (or seasoned rice vinegar)
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1TBL minced ginger
2 cloves minced garlic
1 ½ TBLS arrowroot (can substitute corn starch)

Mix arrowroot with ¼ cup of water and reserve. Add all other ingredients into pot and boil. Wisk in arrowroot/water. Simmer 10-15 seconds. Turn off heat. Wisk a few more times pre-serving.

Great over brown rice with steamed or sautéed veggies. Can add beans or tofu for protein.

My kids like one I make with brown rice. I like to make a little al dente, they like it that way. Then in another pan I cook up a variety of veggies with pinto beans and add spaghetti sauce and serve it over the brown rice. It's filling and healthy.

sauteed onions and red peppers with a bit of marinara sauce in quinoa. Quinoa is considered a perfect protein.

If you don't mind me asking D. what type of work you do @ home as I'm trying to find some work from home as well. I have a 1 yr. old and it's hard finding a babysitter and leaving her for a significant amount of time.

We eat Tinkyada brown rice pasta. It's delicious! I can make soup , pasta salad with organic black beans, or spaghetti with it.

I find it in the natural/organic section of the grocery store.
