They YMCA is a great place to start. You can join in the sports things even if you choose not to be a member of the Y.
Also, check with your school and school district. They often have good programs they list for those interested.
I am a mother a 4, and 2 of the kids are in school. My son who is 12 wants to be in sports and my daughter who is 9 also wants to be in sports. I moved here and have no idea where to start. They both have been in basketball, softball, soccer, and wrestling. I would like some help on where to begin and what all I need to do for them to get started. Thanks.

My son played baseball through "Cal Ripken Dynamite" league, (dynamitecalripken.com) and loved it.
He played soccer through "Young Champions of America", (youngchampionsofamerica.org) and loved it.
He is right now playing Lacrosse with the Glendale LaCrosse League, (glendalelax.com) and he loves them too!
He played soccer through Sereno. Not only was it expensive, my husband and I didn't like the organization. We think they've become too big for their "britches" so to speak, and are more focused on their traveling teams.
All three above groups are great. Young Champions does several different sports. My son will play soccer for them again on his off season with Lacrosse.
Hope that helps and if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask me!
Kicks 4 Kids Soccer is awsome! Not only do they do soccer, but they also have cheerleading, tumbling and much more. This is their link. http://www.kicks4kidssoccer.com/ Not sure what city your in, but most citys have many low cost programs to choose from, such as dance, swimming lessons, baseball, football & cheer. You also may want to join a moms group that has older children, I find that mom's groups have awsome resources. Hope this helps. T.
My kids are sports kids as well, only younger. We are members of the YMCA, so that is a good place to start. My daughter also participates in Karate through Young Champions of America. They have classes in the evenings at the elementary schools in our area. They also offer other types of classes, cheer and I think soccer. Finally, the city Parks and Rec Depts have a lot of stuff going on. I found a T-ball program for my daughter last Fall that only cost 30$ for almost 3 months of play.
Good luck.
