My kids do not go to Highlander because we cannot afford private school and because my 8 year old daughter need special education, which they do not offer.

However, if I could afford it, Highlander would be my choice for my pre-k daughter, because of where we live. The owners/proprietors of the Highlander School, Wayne & Betty Woodring, are members at our church, Wilshire Baptist Church, and they are absolutely wonderful and have a wonderful family. I've heard nothing but great things about the school and a lot of my friends at church send their kids there. I really wish that we could afford it.

I believe it would be a good choice. I'm jealous.

I have heard great things about the school from different friends who send their kids there. I live in the neighborhood so have had friends in and out of there for quite awhile now.
One friend who teaches at a different private school did say that they are very heavy on academics- not a bad thing- just that it isn't a "fit" for everyone.
Probably the best thing to do is go and observe the K-garten class and see what you think. The staff is wonderfully supportive and helpful!

I live in that area and am interested in highlander as well. I have heard nothing but great things about the school. I have had several friends send their kids there (they are in high school or college now) and my neighbor's son went there from preschool through 6th grade. It is supposed to be excellent.

I went to Highlander and am now 26. I still keep in touch with teachers and friends. If you have any specific questions, I can ask my mom who is the assisstant director of an upscale preschool and did a lot with Highlander when I was younger. I know it has been a while since I was there, but I know she will have helpful info for you.
