Seeking In-home Childbirth Class Instructor

My husband and I are expecting our first baby in late September. We are interested in having someone, who is trained, come into our home for childbirth instruction/information. We are not interested in attending a group class. Does anyone have an instructor who they've used in the past who they recommend? We plan on having a hospital delivery (Kennestone Hospital) and are open to an epidural. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the great feedback! My husband and I decided to buy "Laugh and Learn about Childbirth" DVD and will watch it over the next month or so. I did watch some of it last night just to take a peek and am confident that it will be exactly what we need. I'm looking forward to watching it with my husband!

Hi H.,

We did a group class through A Labor of Love. They have a number of doulas that do individual classes as well. You can contact them by visiting http://www.alaboroflove.org. It really covers everything for both the to-be mom as well as the dad. I could go on and on about the class so if you'd like to know more feel free to send me a message.

It was the best class and I would highly recommend it. I met many of the instructors and they are wonderful.

Good luck!
C.

Hello!

I actually do in home classes for people like yourself who are not comfortable with the group classes and prefer one on one teaching. I am a Lamaze Certified instructor and certified in Labor and Delivery. I worked at Kennestone in L&D up until two years ago when I decided to move to the doctor office setting. Contact me if you would like to know more.

Please check with some of the Educators and Doulas listed on the Georgia Birth Network referral listing at www.gabirthnetwork.com I know a few of them do private classes and all of them are extremely knowledgeable and really nice.

If you have any questions about any of them, feel free to ask. I know most of them and have worked with a number of them.

I don't know if you would be interested or not, but I used hypbirthing when I delivered my son. It doesn't require a class; we bought the set of cds/dvd online at hypbirthing.com, I think. Anyway, I had a great labor/delivery experience, and I didn't even use an epidural with the delivery of my 22.5", 7 lb. 12oz. little boy! It seemed a little new age for me at first, but I soon found myself more relaxed and even started sleeping better at night. I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but I hope it helps!
