I don't have a housekeeper, but I keep my grandkids for a month in the summertime and have looked at Care.com for help watching them. They offer housekeeping along with babysitting services and lots of other stuff, and they do the background checks for you, so that's one less thing to worry about it. It is a paid service, but I think it's worth the money for them to do the background work for you.

We have the most wonderful cleaning ladies. They are a mom and daughter team, and they have been cleaning for us for 9 years now. They are thorough and amazingly dependable. In 9 years, I think they've had to reschedule (they've never just canceled) 3 times, and I've *always* received a call in advance. They aren't personal organizers, but somehow our house always looks more organized after they clean. Not sure how that happens, but I look forward to the day each week when they clean!

I'd recommend Master Maid Cleaning. Its a family company and only the 2-3 family members will do your house. Competative rates and wonderful to work with - call Susy to chat and get quotes. They are in McKinney but have traveled as I've used them in Frisco. Good luck - D.

I live in McKinney too. And, I have two responses for you.
Housekeeper: I use a wonderful lady named Roseo Ramirez. She lives in Plano, but will come up here. I found her from my mother in law, and have already referred her to another person on this website who loves her as well. Her phone number is: ###-###-####. If you call and someone hangs up on you, don't worry, she has a 4 year old son who hangs up a lot. Her English is pretty good. She is friendly yet very professional and gets right to work cleaning everything top to bottom! When/if you call her, please mention my name, C. Kitzmiller, and tell her that I referred her to you. She usually comes to my house on Thursday mornings, and I live in Stonebridge Ranch, so perhaps that will work well for everyone.
Childcare: I have had great luck with Babysitters4hire.com. I had a premed student last summer, a sweet Colombian teacher now, etc. You may have to prompt each person for referrences and background checks, but I've never had a problem with that, and if you do, well... The site allows you to put in your zip code and find available people in your area. There is a monthly charge of about $12 to use the site. Recently, I've had about 3 teachers call who were laid off from Dallas. You'll find everything from teenagers to live-in professional nannies.

My housekeeper is terrific! Her name is Maria, ###-###-####. She has worked for a couple of my friends for over 12 years, so I was able to just hand her a key for when I'm not home. She will also stay home with my baby during his nap, so I can run to the store while she cleans. She will also cook, if you like Mexican food.
