Hi! I am looking for a hair salon in south minneapolis. I need someone who can cut curly hair well. I don't want to spend an outrageous amount, but i am willing to pay a decent amount for a good hair cut. If you have curly hair then you know what i mean!
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I know just the person. Her name is Jen Johnson. Her contact number is ###-###-####. I met her through a neighbor & she's great. She's got 13+ years of experience. I forget the fancy salon she used to work at but now she's got her own chair. You'll be shocked at how inexpensive she is. She now cuts hair for everyone in my family. She's in Bloomington, but makes house calls as well (no charge)! Give her a call, you won't be sorry.

I love my hair dresser, Tracy. I found her because I asked a random mom at swimming lessons where she gets her boys' hair cut (because it's so hard to find a good boys haircut IMHO!), and she said that her hairdresser just does it, and referred her to Tracy. Tracy now cuts & highlights my hair too. She's awesome and way less expensive than I was paying. I have really long wavy hair. Here's the website for Sa Bel Salon, where she works:

It's in Uptown. Hope it works out. Call soon if you're interested because she's typically pretty booked up.

I recently started going to Vizi in uptown (32nd and Hennepin so it isn't exactly S MPLS) but I have been happy and I think the rates are reasonable. I paid $35 for a haircut (no coloring), which I thought was very fair. I did notice that they don't exactly keep their prices up to date on the website (I think it still lists $30 for a haircut) but the customer service is good and they serve wine! You would have to ask if they have a stylist that specializes in curly hair. I do know they do have stylists certified to do "pinch braids" which indicates to me that they are familiar with a wide range of hair types.

This is in St. Louis Park, but it isn't far from south Minneapolis. I have been seeing Jane Bakeman at Londons, Ltd. for almost 20 years. I don't have curly hair (in fact the opposite), but I do recommend her. You could specifically ask her about curly hair when you call. I think she has experience with all types of hair. She is an independent contractor at London's. They are listed or you can send me a message if you want me to look in my book for the number (I should know it by heart by now, but I don't call often--usually make my appts. in person). Oh, she isn't cheap, but she also isn't as expensive as the downtown Mpls salons so I don't know if she qualifies as a "decent amount but not outrageous." You could ask her about her prices when you call. I usually get a cut and color combo so I have no idea what she charges for just a cut.

Aubrey Thoren at http://www.foiledagainsalon.com/ is fantastic!! She has curly hair herself (although it is super short right now) and does a great job with my super wavy/curly hair. Her haircuts are only $35.
