Try hospital medical supply company. I used to get medical grade deodorizer spray there that worked wonders (with pets).
Tell the men you are building an outhouse in yard for them!
My request is strange-I have a 12 y/o son, husband and I watch 3 boys (10, 6, and 3 potty training)-my bathroom smells like an outhouse!!! Yes I clean it constantly-I use bleach, pinsole, lysole I even wash the wall behind the toilet with bleach!! I have a timed scent sprayer too nothing works-I need a suggestion or my husband is gonna come home from work one day and the bathroom is gonna be tore out of the house!!!LOL!!! HELP I really don't want to kick the guys out of the house!! Thanks!
Thanks for all the advice-I too believe a new floor is part of the answer because it is the very small square tiles that were here when we bought 7 years ago-the bathroom is actually next on the "list" but for now I will keep cleaning and I will check the shower curtain-never even thought that but totally makes sense with boys!! LOL! I will also check out Smell be Gone at Lowes-Thanks again for everyones help!!

House full of boys here, too! Im not much help, but Im anxiously awaiting a good idea that I havent already tried! It just seems like my bathroom is always dirty, even though the ceramic floor is brand new as well as the toilet. I don't want to be too detailed, but I think its just a 'design flaw'...you know, splashing everywhere from the toilet to the floor surrounding it. I guess asking the guys to wipe the toilet, wall and floor every time would work, but I doubt they would do it, judging by the fact that they can't even be trained to put the seat down!! haha

Hi M.! I'm going through the same thing - except I only have one boy!! But, like you, I clean mine pretty much daily and still find it smelling. I think Pamela may be right about the floor. You may have to replace the flooring (tile). I can recommend a product, that is a little pricey but works - Smell B Gone. We had to get this when we moved into our house b/c the previous owners kept a cat in their basement! We bought it at Lowes & it works, we don't smell "cat" in our basement anymore!! Thank God! Good luck & hopefully some of these tips will help all of us w/boys!!!! ; )
You should remodel your bathroom. It does need an update! LOL
I suspect the problem is really a venting issue. sewer gases that should be venting up the stack are instead venting through the toilet. you should consult some qualified plumbers.
I dont know how your bathroom is set up, but my kids bathroom always smelled like urine, I kept taking the throw rugs out and washing them, wiping the floor with bleach, ect. Finally I figured it out, my son must have peed on the shower curtain!!!! Now their bathroom smells nice again. Good luck.
do you have rugs in front of the toilet? if so there is your culpert...i have a house full of boys too and my rug if not changed daily will harbor the "smell" and i too clean the toilet area daily......
I found that if you use Listerine in your toilet, it not only takes all the stains out of the bowl it makes your bathroom smell fresh.I bought just the meijer brand clear mouthwash and it worked wonderful..Sounds strange but it works :)

My bathroom smelled so clean until my 3 yr old son potty trained 10 months ago. Anyway, I found that I have to wipe up after he pees because even the little drips get stinky when they dry. I use oxy foam spray around base of my toilet on the floor because I found that the smell was coming from there when he pees sometimes if he doesn't pay attention it drips down the toilet and gets under the toilet and dries there. One more thing I did was bought a new toilet seat, from Target it was only $4 he would pee and if it got on the toilet hindges and dried you can never get to it and just a little pee goes along way and is so stinky. I hope I helped and I look forward to reading other moms ideas to help with the smell. Good luck!!
I don't have an answer but I did get a chuckle out of your posting. Are you sure it's the boys and not your hsb? A good friend of mine had the same problem and turns out it was her dear hubby. He was getting up in the middle of the night and not putting on his glasses so needless to say his aim was way off..Good Luck to you!

I think you need to get the flooring base underneath your top floor replaced. Urine has gotten under there and it will stay. Pam R.
M.,
I know what you mean. I have three boys myself (though one is only 3 months old) but the other two definitely make up for many messes and bad odors in our house! One thing to consider is your floor in the bathoom close to the toilet might have water damage (from drips and spills or malfunctioning toilet), and therefore constantly rotting and spreading odors. We had it in our house in one of the bathrooms. I could never get why is it that the bathroom stunk even after I cleaned it a day ago.
I would also encourage you to stay clear of using Lysol and Bleach in closed rooms, or ever... There is so much research right now showing that the toxins contained in those two cleaning substances present danger to our health and enviroment. I know that as a mom we can not compromise cleanliness, and constantly trying to keep our houses germ and grime free we often rely on powerful cleaners. I would love to share with you about alternatives to such cleaners as Bleach, Amonia and Lysol, which are healthier for you and are no less effective.
As soon as I read the subject I knew you had boys. Unfortunatly I am no help but I need the answer as well. I have 4 kids, a 15 1/2 yr old daughter and triplets who just turned 5, two of which are boys. My bathroom smells like urine no matter what I do. I hope someone has an answer.
