I have a child that has a chance to go to the UK with People to People Student Ambassadors next summer. It's an Honor that she was accepted to even have a chance to go. It's all she can think of, it will be so great for her to go and learn the history of other place's. I think she will come out with so much from this trip. I can't wait to send her. But It's going to cost alot, and we want to raise some of the money. If anyone out there has an idea of what to do. It would help, we have some ways of raising the money. But the more ideas the better. Thank you so much. All your idea's will help with her education.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank You so much for everything. We are using some of the idea's to raise the money. She can't wait to go. We will let you all know how it goes, and how her trip went. Thanks again. All the idea's are helpful, and I had no idea of how to start. But you all helped. And when she goes she will be thinking on all the help she had to get there.

Pampered Chef does fund raisers. Car washes, bake sales, if someone you know is good at sewing they could make a quilt to raffle, and you could raffle off other items as well. These are just a few of the things that my son has done to raise money for the groups that he participates in. Good Luck!!

Try contacting a Jewelry Lady with Premier Designs. I am a jewelry lady and would love to do a show for you and donate 50% of the sales to your daughter's trip. If by chance you are not in the area I may be able to get you in contact with someone in your area. Who wouldn't want Great High Fashion Jewelry?!?!

How awesome for your daughter. I sell Pampered Chef and we have fundraisers that can earn you 15% of the commision. Also, since I know how hard it is to pay for our kids exta activities and I mainly do PC because I love the product and it fills in my time, I would be happy to donate my commision from your fundraiser to help you with your daughters trip. That is what tax incentives are for right. Let me know if I can help.

I'm not sure where you're located, but I know of a possible fundraiser through Mary Kay. If you talk to a consultant in your area, (I do them, but am not sure where you live) they get 50% commission, so most of them are willing to give a percentage of that commission to the person fundraising. My experience has been that I give 25% of the sales toward the fundraiser. That way we cut the commission right down the middle. This way everyone wins! The customer gets products that they want (or can give as a gift), the student gets money toward their trip and the consultant makes a little for helping someone else out.

If you don't know of a consultant in your area, let me know and I could find out the name of one for you. Just a thought! Good luck!

Several restaurants will do fundraiser nights where you get a percentage of all meals sond on a particular night. I know Fazoli's and Sweet Tomatoes do them. Our neighborhood association did one at Sweet Tomatoes last year and I think they even made the flyers for us. Basically whoever brings in a flyer that night, a portion of their meal goes toward your fundraising efforts. Very easy to do. Good luck!!

I'm involved in a fundraiser for Light the Night (for kids with Luekimia). We have had the best luck with a Casino Night. Each person pays $10 for $1500 dollars worth of chips and plays for the fun of it. We also do a quilt raffle and raise quite a bit of money from that.

First off congrats to you and your daughter. I can see why she is so excited about this!

The first thing I would do is take it to a local newspaper or even new channel. Have them run a story about your daughter and the group and their trip. There are alot of nice people out there who will help. Also, Wal-Mart will donations to groups. Sometimes, $500 sometimes $1500. This is good exposure for Wal-Mart and People to People. All you have to do is go in and ask to speak with the person in charge of the fund raiser. I am the president of a non profit family support group and the Wal-Mart here has helped us on several different things.
Also, I dont know if you have one but Casey's Stores also donate.
Candles are a big item!! Its too bad you werent closer, I have a displayer who will also donate her earnings from a candle sale. Giving back 90%!!

There are many great fund raisers you can do! Best of luck and prayers for a safe travel to the UK and back for your daughter and the children.

God Bless!

My son is also in People to People and he had a great trip when he went to DC a couple of years ago. He still has the pictures posted in his room.

If you are a member of a church or other organization that has a large hall, consider doing a craft fair. If you can do one before the holidays, that's even better. I am one of the many local crafters who is always looking for another show to attend. You could advertise in all the craft stores for vendors and at schools and churches to bring in buyers.

My little sister was in People to People and went to Europe just this summer!!! While she was there, she did nothing but cry and call us all the time saying she missed us sooooooooo much!!! lol (she's 17 and a big baby!! LOL) Now that she's back home, she says she misses Europe and is already trying to plan her next trip over there!!! lol
Anyways, to answer your question.... my friend and I were trying to raise money to start our own business and we did Aromalight Candles. They smell WONDERFUL!!! You don't have to buy anything up front, you give them your name and address and they send you however many forms you need! You get 50% profit (if I remember right, you need to pay for shipping but I don't remember it being too much.) Their website is www.aromalightcandles.com. You can also do a google search for fundraisers and find literally hundreds of different things to sell. If I were you, I'd just pick one that you don't have to buy anything before you even start selling!!
Hope this helps!!! Good luck and I hope your daughter has great fun on her trip!!!!

First of all, congrats on getting your fundraising started! Raising support for a worthy cause can be super rewarding. But obviously, if you're not an official non-profit, it can be really tricky finding a good way to build support for your cause.

One route you might want to consider: setting up a homepage for your group on a fundraising website. Having a group homepage online makes organizing and fundraising infinitely easier ... And though the majority of fundraising sites require you have official non-profit status, many good ones only require that you are a group - and will give you plenty of the tools you need.

For example, one good site is Meet Up (www.meetup.com), who allow you to fundraise directly to your account, and register a group without having an official non-profit status - and they cover groups around the world, while giving you some tools to do event management. But the tools they offer are a little limited outside of fundraising.

Another good option would be Empowered.org (www.empowered.org), a platform that also helps small groups fundraise and organize (regardless of non-profit status). They also work for international groups - and offer a fair amount of useful tools, like the ability to organize your group or to create volunteer activities and fundraising campaigns for more targeted ways to raise support.

Or you could always try to send up your own PayPal account to link to you directly to help you fundraise, but this is a little trickier and a bit inflexible.

Good luck getting started moving forward! Hope that helped.

Have you thought about doing a veder fair? They are easy to put together as long as you have the space. YOu charge for the booth and advertise like crazy. Also a trivia night works well. It would cost money to rent space, but you charge enough where you at least get to keepp half. I have put both together so if you want more advice let me know

J. that is great that your daughter has a chance to go to the UK. My 16 year old niece went to NY. this summer with her singing group and they are planning on going to Fl. next summer. It does cost alot I know she is planning on to start getting money gathered up soon. Here are some ideas maybe to try to do car washes, bake sales, walking dogs, any kind of interests like that.Maybe a social gathering with some of her friends. You could charge a small fee to get in. I hope maybe I helped with some ideas. Good luck and I hope she enjoys the trip and the experience.

Hello! I know that Gold Canyon Candles has a fundraising program. You can check with them. They have the BEST candles anywhere. You could sell candybars, hold car washes, weather permitting of course. If candles are your thing, Gold Canyon would be an excellent recourse. If you're interested in that, let me know and I can give you the phone number of the lady I use. She is wonderful and very helpful! ____@____.com is my email and my name is also J. K.
