have you been to essure.com ?
I have heard good but there aren't that many docs in the sac metro that do it, 4 of the 5 are kaiser based.
Hi! I am considering a permanent birth control solution and I have heard of a procedure called Essure that is much less invasive than getting your tubes tied. Does anyone know about this?

I had this procedure done in October 2007. The procedure was painless. The only problem I had was that my tubes didn't close at the same time. One side was closed with in 3 months and the other by 6 months. This meant that for a few months longer we had to use other forms of birth control. After the procedure you go back for and HSG test to confirm that your tubes are closed.
I have had my tubes tied 7 hours after I had my 3rd child. I had him in the morning and was in the OR by 6 or 7 at night. My OB made an incision at my belly button and went in that way. It was an inch long, and basically because the uterus was still high enough inside, all she had to do was grab the tubes and tie them. obviously i wasn't watching but I was awake. I had an epidural during labor, but it was removed. I had a block during the operation.
It's commonly used at Women's Healthcare Associates of Redding (dr's office next to the medical spa I manage) and I understand is very effective. Definitely want to take it easy for a few days and have someone available to drive you to and from your appt.

My sister-in-law had it done and was really happy with her experience. She wished she would have done it sooner.
