If you're open to another clinic we go to Pediatric Associates in SLP and love it. We see Dr Harrington and she is wonderful and great with infants because she has one of her own. It's a smaller practice so you get more personal attention.
Hello! My DS is a little over 2 years ago and we have used the same ped for him since he was born. The DR we use is at Metro Peds and while we like the clinic (good later hours for working parents) and the DR himself OK, I am looking for recommendations for a new DR since I am due with baby #2 on April 4. The reason we are looking to switch DR's is that we often feel rushed when we go in with my son. Although he is good at what he does and has diagnosed some issues very early with my son (nothing on-going) I feel like I'd like someone warmer, more caring about the child. Our current DR sort of does what he needs to and is gone.
Do any of you go to Metro Peds or Southdale Peds (Edina locations) and have a DR you'd recommend? Thanks!

S.,
Our doctor is Dr. Jeff Oseid at Southdale. We see him in Burnsville, but he may go over to Edina as well. We have also seen Dr. Dina Westlund when Dr. Oseid was out with hip replacement surgery (that makes him sound old, but I think he is in his 40's) and we really like her as well.
Good luck,

Honestly, shouldn't the first requirement you have for a doc is that they are good at what they do, able to diagnose things in your child, and know what they are doing? If you like the clinic and the hours and location, I would try a different doc there. Most docs are over scheduled these days and may seem to be in a rush, especially in the winter when EVERYONE is sick. But, as long as your current doc is good at his job and does what he needs to, is the chit chatty stuff really a big deal? If it is, like I said, I would try someone else at your clinic before switching clinics altogether.
We go to Southdale Peds, usually in EP but have been to the Edina location many times. We have been happy with every single doc we have seen there. Some do seem rushed, but, to me, that isn't a big deal as long as I felt my kids were seen, I was heard, and everything that needed to be done was done. We usually see Dr. Lutz there and feel he is very good. He does talk very fast (he is a fast talker!), but is excellent at his job.
Good luck in whatever you decide.

I use Dr. McCarthy and think he is great. He always takes all the time we need, has seen us several times unscheduled, called us back when we have questions, and worked with us as we have a created a non-traditional vaccination plan for our daughter (18months).
Best wishes!
I think you should stay with your same clinic and see who sees you while in the hospital. Many times you will get a feel at that point. Dr. Daniels is very kind and patient and her primary clinic is the Metro peds Southdale location over the Burnsville one. I do not know if you prefer a male or not, but my thumbs would go up for her. Stay with the practice. There are more good apples in the group than many practices. Congrats on baby number two. (((HUGS)))).
We see Dr Mary Lawler at Southdale Peds and are very happy. They too have late hours, weekend hours, etc. If we can't get in to see her, we've been happy with all the other Drs as well. Dr Lawler has even called us on weekends or days after seeing our child to 'follow up' and check in. Priceless to parents!
I also go to Metro Peds at Southdale and we love Dr. Mari Daniels. She has never once rushed us, always listens to our concerns, never questions if we choose not to vaccinate or not to give the flu shot, etc. She has a couple young kids too so I don't feel like she's so out of the loop.
Good luck!
we've been with Tim Johanson for 10 years. He really takes time, takes time to chat with the kids about stuff not related to the reason for the visit (my son used to LOVE to pick out hot wheels to show the dr. because he'd make such a big deal about them) He has solved several "mysteries" for us and gotten us help for very obscure issues. LOVE this doctor!!!
I have a 2 year old and we go to metro peds in Edina. Our main doctor is Dr. Eaton. We really like her and would recommend to anyone. :)
We use Dr. Mari Daniels for our ped for our 2 young kids and really like her. We have used Dr. Harrington when Dr. Daniels is not available and she is good too. They are patient and listen to concerns. My kids are 16 months and 4.5 years and they have seen Dr. Daniels for the majority of their check ups.
We go to the Edina location of Metropeds.
I hope you find a pediatrician that you like!
Hi S.,
Looks like you've already got several recommendations here but if you do head over to Southdale Peds in Edina, I highly recommend Dr. S. Brandt. She is super caring, kind, and very reassuring. We have three girls and they all love her. We had preemie twins so saw her frequently in the early days and I always walked out feeling so glad that she was our doctor. Best wishes,
B.
