We have finally decided and committed to our 10 year old daughter that we will get a dog! She has bought and read the dog book (3 times), but now we are having a hard time finding a breeder. Does anyone know or can refer us to a trusted dog breeder of Boston Terriers?

What can I do next?

May I make a suggestion? Have you thought about rescuing a Boston Terrier? Oprah did a show about buying dogs a few weeks ago and it is absolutely heartbreaking how many dogs are killed every year in shelters. I checked on-line and there is a beautiful web-site for Boston Terriers: midwestbtrescue.org. Click on the link for Illinois and there are pictures of many many adorable dogs. I know it's so tempting to get a puppy but just think of all your shoes that will be saved! Not to mention all the accidents you WON'T have to clean up!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do. :)

My Dog Fancy magazine came today. There's a listing for Boston Terrier breeders...Home raised, expert shipping guarangeed. Gina Stratton in Florida...her e-mail is ____@____.com Phone is ###-###-#### However, rather than buying from a breeder, it would be much nicer to get a Boston Terrier from a shelter. There are so many homeless animals that are euthanized daily for lack of room...There are a lot of wonderful dogs looking for their "forever home" I just rescued 2 cocker spaniels in the past 6 months and they are the most wonderful dogs....As a matter of fact, I just googled Boston Terrier Rescue...there is one that serves Illinois Indiana and 2 other states. There are pictures of some absolutely gorgeous Boston Terriers there. Please adopt one of those.

I agree with the person who suggested a Boston rescue organization. My ex-husband found a wonderful Boston this way and he was a great addition to their family. Also I would check Almost Home Foundation (almosthomefoundation.org) and see if they have any Bostons for adoption. They always have purebreds for adoption and if you aren't extremly picky about papers, bloodlines, etc., you can find a wonderful dog this way. So many dogs are killed each year because there aren't enough homes for them. It would be a wonderful lesson for your daughter to "rescue" a dog that needed a home instead of buying one from a breeder. Saves you $$ too!
