I am not sure about midwives in E. Somerville. However, Alexi Shea from the Brigham and Womens Hospital & Neponset Health Center in Dorchester is fantastic.
I love my doctor - Mary Carson - at Harvard Vanguard in Copley Square - the office is right next to the Back Bay stop on the Orange line - good luck!
My son is 1 year old now and when I was nearly 3 months pregnant with him, I moved home to Boston after living in Texas for a year (military wife). He was delivered by my wonderful OB Dr. Bernard Logan in Medford (next door to Somerville). Dr Logan's office was quick and accomodating to make sure that there was no gap in my prenatal care, squeezing me into their schedule ASAP. He is at 101 Main Street in Medford. The office # is ###-###-####. He is a cheerful and sweet older gentleman who has been delivering babies for decades. He is patient and very thorough at every visit and welcomes all your questions. You can take either the 101 or the 95 buses if you are coming from Somerville. Both buses stop right next to or across from the medical building he is in. Give him a try! Congrats & good luck!
Dr. Beth Hardiman is an absolutely amazing doctor and works with just a mid-wife in her practice. It is wonderful b/c you know that one of them will be delivering your baby. Both Dr. Hardiman & Ariann Stein, CNM are very down to earth, warm, friendly, extremely knowledgable and very hands on. I simply can not say enough about how amazing they are! Dr. Hardiman works out of Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge which has a wonderful reputation for births.
