Seeking Developmental Pediatrician Recommendations in Philly or Suburbs

Hi - I was wondering if anyone has ever used a developmental pediatrician in the Philadelphia area. My 21 month old daughter has some sensory processing issues (as identified by Early Intervention) and our general ped. recommended seeing a developmental ped. Currently, we are on the 2 YEAR waiting list at CHOP but clearly, we don't want to wait that long. Any recommendations would be great - Thanks in advance!

So What Happened?

I want to thank everyone for their terrific advice, contact information and overall support. I've called Dupont - the wait is 5 -7 months but I plan to call often to see if I can get a canceled appointment slot and plan on calling a couple other contacts shared by the awesome moms of Mamasource!

We were on the list at CHOP as well, but I called everyday and asked about cancellations twice a day. Two weeks after calls they had an appointment. The appointment was three weeks out. We see Dr. Mary Pipan she is the best and I am so glad we waited. I also called my doctors office daily and ask the social worker to call for an appointment. Good luck!

Dear D.
We took our son to DuPont Hospital in Wilmington, DE and were very pleased. We saw Dr. Ann Midori. This was a few years ago, but it didn't take more than a month to get an appointment. Sometimes your pediatrician can expedite things. Early intervention makes all the difference. Good Luck!

Hi~I'm a mother of a 14 month old. I know all about the long waiting list for developmental pediatricians. My son is also on the waiting list at CHOP. However, I got him into see a developmental pediatrician at Dupont. The drs name is Anne M.Meduri ###-###-####.I was very happy with her she took her time with us and I didn't feel rushed at all. She even called me a week later to check how a couple test my son had done. The younger your child is the sooner they'll be seen.Once you contact them they'll send you a packet of papers. Fill them out as soon as you get them and return them asap. Because they will not make the apt. until they get the packet back. I also had my son on the waiting list at Cooper. The pediatricians info at Cooper is Dr. Barbara J. Evans ###-###-#### or call 1-800-8-Cooper. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

We are involved with the Chester County early intervention program. Based on the different issues my son has, they recommended that he go before the CATCH team for an evaluation. The team is about Autism identification but not just that. They don't feel my son is autistic but they want to make sure they are on the right track with his therapy and they have mentioned sensory issues as well. They explained the CATCH team as a much faster way to get before a team of developmental peds. which does take a year or more to get in. It took a few months for the appointment but its coming up in 2 weeks.
