Seeking Dentist in Bloomington

I recently moved to Bloomington and will need to see the dentist soon. Any suggestions? When do you take your baby? My daughter is 15 months old and has 12 teeth. She likes to play with her toothbrush but I haven't really tried too hard to get her to brush. I use that weird finger brush on her as well. Should I look for a pediatric dentist or do regular dentists see the little ones? Growing up in Chicago, my mom worked for our dentist so I never had to look for one!

What can I do next?

I see Stone & Johnson in Edina. They are fabulous! They had been recommended by a few of my friends. I have anxieties about going to the dentist and they have all been so nice. It is calm inside and doesn't smell like a dentist office. They are located in the Edinbourough building just off of 494.

We go to Dr. Walling, now part of Metro Dental Care. He is located at 5001 American Blvd. W, Ste.905. (it is the big white 9 or 10-story building you can see from 494 and east of 100) Phone ###-###-####. My husband has gone to him since he was a little boy. All of the dental hygenists are great. I have a 6 yr old daughter and we started bringing her at age 3. They let her ride in the chair first time and counted her teeth, then progressively got more involved. Now she gets them cleaned and x-rays done yearly. Good luck!

Hi D. - My dentist isn't in Bloomington but is in Apple Valley, not far from you. It's a great family dentisry but most important to me, he doesn't use mercury almalgam filings. My children have never been exposed to additional mercury from the filings in their teeth. Our family has been seeing him for 17 years. It's worth the drive!

Dr. Dennis Simmons, Brite Smiles Dental Care, Apple Valley.

Tell him the Goodman Family referred you.

Thanks,

D.

Welcome to Minnesota!

I highly recommend taking your daughter to a pediatric dentist. My children had such a good experience with their pediatric dentist that my oldest daughter became a dentist!
If you start them young they will never regret it. In the beginning they just count their teeth, etc. This office is just so kid friendly. Our favorite:
*Dr. David Elgethun 7373 France Ave S @ ###-###-####

My daughter, Dr. Welter, is in the downtown Mpls. area with MetroDentalcare. She believes in excellence and is always there for her patients. My hygenist, Linh, is great too!

IF you need a pediatrician. Southdale Pediatrics is really wonderful too!

My sister's husband is a dentist and he works out of Blmtn. He works for Metro Dental. They take all ages. His name is Dr. Brian Vieregge. He's great with my kids. My mom and sister are dental hygienists (but don't work with Brian). My mom works out of Inver Grove Hts and my sister works out of Centennial Lakes (I think it's close to Hopkins). My mom and sister both are great at cleaning kids teeth - they just love kids. I know I've had my 4 year old daughters teeth cleaned only about 3 times = I think she was about 2 1/2 or 3 the first time. You can definitely start when they are younger but be prepared to sit in the chair with your daughter. You could just ask your dentist what they recommend and ask for a kiddie toothbrush too. The first main appt is usually where they are just trying to help the child be comfortable at the dental office. They count their teeth and sometimes if they are lucky, they get to clean them. My daughter does great now that she's a little older.

My uncle & grandpa are both dentists. Uncle is a pediatric dentist. They recommend that you take them by your first tooth or 12 months whichever comes first.
