Seeking Dance Class for 10 Year Old

My daughter is 10 years old and pretty klutzy. She walks into door frames, smacks her toes constantly and loves to hip-hop dance.

I want to enroll her in a dance class and want to get some feedback from other mothers regarding area locations. Any help/information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have to mortgage my house to pay for the classes either. Does anyone have any recommendations or "warnings" they would like to provide - all responses would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

For three years now I've been taking my daughter to the Ursuline Scool the Performing Arts (USPA) on the Sacred Heart Campus on Lexington Road. Their prices are very reasonable and their staff is SUPER friendly, especially Ms. Cindy who is the jazz/modern dance teacher there. Here's their website http://www.ucschools.com/uspa/index.htm.

Another thing I like is that, unlike many dance studios around town, classes aren't geared toward performance or competition. I'm no prude, but seeing those young girls with tons of make-up in suggestive clothes doing highly suggestive dance moves really grosses me out!

I don't know anything about age ranges/prices or classes they offer but there is a 360 dance place off of Blankenbaker. My husband's daughter used to go there.

we took my daughter to the little gym. she was 3 at the time and was there for gymnastics but if i remember correctly they have dance and karate... they are off hurstborn lane. or at least they were last year. theres also all about kids but i hear that can be pricy but a blast. you may want to check with the ymca near your house too... hope this helps! P.S. the klutzy part is just the age if you look at her shes prob kinda goofy looking in the since that she has a big head big feet and her body just hasnt caught up yet. kinda like and infant learning to walk all over. i remember when my brother in law was that age he was so goofy looking along with all the kids in his class... she will get it together tho dont worry to much!

Hey S.,
I am in the same boat as you. My 12 year old neice, whom I take care of, would love to take dance classes. I called around to a few places last summer and they said they didn't have any classes that were beginners classes for that age. :(
I don't want to drive to the other side of town twice a week because of gas prices. If you find something out, let me know.
