Hi Moms! I am looking for a Christian based preschool for my 3 year old son in the Denton/Corinth area. My family and I recently moved to Denton and I know that January/February is the time to research preschools and be placed on waiting lists for the fall; however, I don't even know where to start. I'd love some recommendations and some pros and cons to help me narrow down my search. Thank you!!!

What can I do next?

I hear Southmont is great-- many of my daughters' friends went there. Children's Lighthouse has a great reputation as well... don't know if they are religiously affiliated, though.

For help searching for daycares or MDOs, try looking on www.MomCheck.com. I am a co-owner and started with other moms to help moms in their search for childcare. You can do a search based on your location or zip and get the results and information(rates, accreditation, etc) about each school at your fingertips. Hope it helps you.

Good luck in your search.

Hi J.,
My kids go to CT Kids Preschool at Cross Timbers Community Church in Denton. My girls love it! All the teachers are wonderful to the children, and they all have a heart for the Lord!

They go from 9-1 on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can find more information at www.crosstimberschurch.org (click on kids). Oh, and if you're interested, they still have room for the remainder of this year. Good luck!

Wellspring Christian Academy in Denton is great. Its off HWY 380. I had my oldest there until my youngest girl was born. Its been a year and a half, and my oldest daughter is still asking to go back!

My niece went to Wellspring Christian Academy and it was wonderful. I live down the street and am due to have my first in 7 weeks. My baby boy will be going there when he is older. Olivia now goes there for the after school program after her days at Evers elementary. At Wellspring, she learned so many things including bible verses and sweet songs. Good Luck on your search!

I worked at Wellspring Christian Academy and it is a great preschool. I loved that it is very structured and the teachers are required to make a lesson plan every week. They focus on a letter, number and bible verse every week. They have activites that go along with each of them daily. The teachers have to have the children make at least 3 art projects each week to go along with what they learned. At the end of each week on Friday mornings the children go to chapel and sing bible songs and hear a bible story. Some of the older children will sometimes get up and recite the bible verse they learned that week.
My son just turned a year old and will be going there when he gets old enough. If you have anymore questions you can send me a message or email me ____@____.com

I'd looke at Cross Timbers Denton first. They are new to Denton, but have had preschool at the CT Argyle Campus for years. Since they are new to the Denton area, they are still small and intimate. Angela Gentry is WONDERFUL with kids.

As a second choice, check out any of the other programs mentioned. I have friends kids who have been to all of them and haven't heard anything terrible about any of them. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned First Baptist Denton, but they are another option.

Ann Windle is the only pre-school I know. It has income requirements. Not too sure about the Christian part of it though.

Hi J.,

My son goes to Childrens Lighthouse in Denton and we really like the staff there. They use the A Beka Curriculum which is bible based. They also offer remote peace which is a webcam in the room and you can peak in on them online. The only my son does not like about it is that he has to take a nap. Good Luck.

Definitely check out FBC Corinth KDO program. I give good recommendations because not only am I a member of the church but one of my twin sons is in one of the 3 year old classes. Long story short, his twin brother came down with a life threatening illness 9/08/08 and is still recovering. We put our healthy son into KDO for companionship and to help the friends who were having to care for him while we stood vigil with his brother for 99 days in the hospital. I do have the advantage of knowing all the staff since I go to church with most of them and I will say you would be hard pressed to find a better school in the area. You can find the KDO's website through the church's:
fbccorinth.org

It is my intention when my other son is healthy, he will be joining his brother in the fall. Have a blessed day!

Prestonwood Baptist Church has a good preschool program, CLC.
I believe they are about to do thier annual enrollment. Currently the program is offered at the main church in West Plano but next year they will be opening a new branch near/in Prosper.

My 3 and 4 year olds are attending this year, and I am also a teacher there.

I would suggest calling now for info as it tends to get booked easily.

We are really thrilled with The Children's Place! I have never found such a supportive group of teachers and individuals as I have at this Christian preschool. They are located on McKinney and Oak St. inside St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. You can find out more about them on their website, although I highly encourage you to take a tour. The director Ms. Kate will be happy to show you around.

I agree with the other mom about FBC in Corinth. I have heard great things and have visited the school myself. However, their waiting list is extensive. My son couldn't get in this past year, so we had to find another preschool and am so happy things tuned out the way they did. I love the preschool he attends. It is Trinity Mother's Day Out in Denton at Trinity UMC. My son is in the 4's class and they have 2 teachers per room. You can choose to send your child on M/W or T/Th from 9-2. The cost is reasonable and the director is the nicest person. I, also, love the parent's program some of the mom's have put together. We meet for coffee once a month and have "field trips" on Fridays in which we get together and take our kids to different places like storytime at B and N or Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. It is a great school and a great group of parents. We are in the T/Th class. If you decide on this program, I would love to meet you! By the way, I learned about TMDO from this website last year when I was looking for a preschool.

Hi J.... My kids attended Seasons MDO at the Church of Corinth, and it was great. The program was wonderful, christian-based, and fun. They have an exercise program called stretch-n-grow where the kids all learn healthy habits and exercise. It runs from 9:30 to 2:30 on M/W or T/Th. We joined in the middle of the year, so they may have openings. Good Luck.
