My husband runs a shop on Fm 2920, next to Danny's trix and kixs, called Discount Transmissions! They are mainly a transmission shop, but I send friends with non transmission related issues all the time, who dont want to get ripped off and told things need to be fixed that dont. I can tell him you are going to call, and he can have one of his employees take a look at it. They also do payment plans, etc. Ask for Chris at 281~###-###-####. Explain the situation to him and tell him his wife sent you. Good Luck!

I'm also a single mom and have been thoroughly impressed with the service at Ripley's. They have two shops, one at Kuykendahl and 1960 and the other on Rayford Rd just east of 45. A couple of weeks ago I took my car in to have the clutch replaced because someone else told me that's what it needed. It was nearly a $900 job. Later that day they called me and said it just needed some TLC and new belts and charged me only $126!
I would recommend Tino's Auto Repair. He's located at Kuykendahl and Louetta in Spring. His number is ###-###-####. Tell him that W. Langston referred you.

Hi C.,
I really like Kwik Kar in Tomball located on Main street (HWY 2920). Graham is one of the owners and also does work on the vehicles. That is where I go when I am having any problems with my car. They are very reasonable and honest. They will locate the problem and let you know before any charging you a dime. He will tell you the easy and most inexpensive way to fix the problem. We go their for our state inspections and oil changes also. My parents and grandfather use them as well. Good luck from one single mom to another with getting your car fixed. I hope this is will help you.

If I was you, I would try one of the local High Schools Mechanics Dept. THey teach Mech. in school and have a certified mech. teaching them. It could be a win, win situation. You get your car fixed for less money or even free and the kids can learn something.....Check it out! May God Bless You and yours!!

I took my truck to Milstead off Rayford. I walked in told them my transmission was messed up and left it. They called back around lunch that day and told me there was nothing wrong with my transmission. They could have easily told me, yup you need a new transmission, I wouldn't have known any different and they would have a made some $$. My "diagnosis" cost appx. $80 but that was only b/c when they hooked it up, it didn't throw any codes so they had to do a more in depth search. I do have a couple of $25.00 off coupons, if you want one, let me know. I will definitely be taking my vehicle back there if I run into any additional problems. Good luck.

Hi C.-
When we first arrived in the area we took my car to Drivers Auto Repair and had terrible luck with them. Every time the car was in for one thing they'd find 3 other things that needed to be worked on and then after they would "fix" them we'd be back again in a month because the problem returned or was actually worse.
We now go to the Firestone on 45 by Kohl's and Walmart. We have them check the whole car over when we get the oil changed and they have never "found" anything else that needs to be done. They've done some warranty work for us as well and we've never needed to go back again for the issue.
Good Luck!

Go see Tim Ellis at Ellis Automotive. ###-###-####. I go to him because my husband works offshore and most of the places I have gone to before try to get me to fix things that aren't broken or could wait until my husband gets home. Tim is very honest and reasonable. He even bills less than his estimate sometimes.

Not sure what kind of car you have but if it's foreign, go to DRC across the highway, north of Rayford and south of Woodlands Parkway, on the east side, just past the Taxidermy place and muffler shop. Tell Daniel that L., the lady with the white C280 sent you. They are as honest as they come - they still have to charge for their work but they're good. I would avoid the Mercedes place on the west side (long history with them) and, unfortunately, Vick's was too expensive for the work they did for my mom's Honda. I would stay away from Milstead completely. Also, Daiel Nordstrom is Honda certfiied and works on foreign cars weeknights and weekends - have been happy with him and he's extremely reasonable - his cell is ###-###-####.
Good luck!

Oak Ridge Car Clinic on Rayford Rd. Very honest, will not try to fix something not needed. Dennis is the owner. ###-###-####. He may be slightly higher than some others around, definitely less exspensive than the car dealer or convient car repair places. He will repair the most economical way, keeping quality work.

Vic's Precision Automotive off of 242. He is a super good guy and we trust him implicity with our vehicles. We even had an incident with a Wal-Mart oil change where we ended up having to sue and he met with my husband for over an hour to help him prepare for the trial. I have no doubt that if you were to explain your financial situation he would be more than happy to work with you. I hope this helps!
Try Village Automotive on Kuykendahl Rd. Years of experience and honest.

well - I have someone who is honest... Mike Dupu, Spring Auto Service, 3611 Spring Stuebner, 77389 / ###-###-#### Office / ###-###-#### cell / www.springautoservice.com
I have taken my vehicle to various places in Spring with very little success. I always walk away feeling very "dirty" like I just touched somehting slimy. His shop is close to my haouse and I tried him on a whim. I have found Mike to be very honest and easy to work with. I have never felt overcharged or taken advantage of. I do not know if he will work with on the price or a payment plan - you will have to ask about that. Good Luck!!

My check engin light came on and my husband took the truck to auto zone and they told him to that it was a colant/thermostate issue. He replaced the thermostate, under $20. and disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer. Check engine light is off and the truck runs fine.

You are in the right place!!!!! I have two friends who have been in your shoes, so I know my advice is solid.
To qualify you have to be a single lady with or without children. Christian Brother's will fix your car for 1/2 the price. Mr. Jan Johnson is the owner and coordinates this service. Contact him at The Fellowship of the Woodlands (you don't have to be a member). The number there is ###-###-####. Also if you are interested there is a Mrs. Linda Kibble who heads up the single's group for support and services in a group called Oasis. You will not be dissapointed in the least! M.
