Hey there one fun game my sister had for me at my shower at first seemed like the old time classic where the mommy to be walks around with a tray with a whole bunch of different baby items { pacifiers, nail clippers, spoon, etc} walking past neach guest. When she leaves the room niormally the guests would have a few minutes to write down what they think they saw, but instead you tell them that this is actually going to be about the mommy. You ask different questions lke what color shoes was she wearing? is she wearing earings? DId she have on one bracelet or two? Etc ended up being who knows the mommy better! It was tons of fun!

Public's makes a really cute cake that is the shape of an old timey baby stroller. A game is to have the guest help name the baby, this can be very funny.

I gave a co-ed baby shower one time. I put blind folds on mom and dad and had them taste different kinds of baby food and had them guess what it was. Of course, you want to get the yummy ones like bananas and the desserts. Have everyone write down things that they wish they would have known before they had kids or the best piece of advice for mom and dad. You can also play a game...Have mom and dad stand, each with their own laundry basket filled with baby clothes. Tell them that they have to see who can fold them the fastest and neatest. While they are folding, call their cell phones from the other room and have a conversation with them. While this is all going on have 2 people from the "crowd" come up to them and pretend to be children tugging, pulling, whining and demanding their attention. It really is funny to watch. Have fun and best wishes!

One of my favorite things from my shower and that we did for a friend was to hang clothes line across a doorway or the living room, etc. and hang booties, bibs, onesies, etc. off of it with clothes pins for the mother-to-be to take home with her. It was a great decorating idea, and very useful! It's also nice to have a blank page book or to make one with pages in the shape of baby bottles or something and have everyone write their words of wisdom about child rearing (even childless people have definite ideas).

first pick a theme for baby shower ,build on what u have available around the home and sister home, by that i mean use your resources before spending . when is shower, summer, fall, use lots of fresh herbs in small containers, pretty ribbons to use for tie back linens or napkins very simple makes a strong statment. or be very colorful using mix and match seving dishes and platters.let your gifts for guest be a theme setting also. a bucket of summer outdoor lotions and sprays candles ect, remembering the guest of honor should be the attraction, potted flowers and herbs could also be your gifts for guest.finger food unless shower time is in the evening.have fun

I played a fun game at a shower recently. It was the dirty diaper game. They melted different chocolate candy bars in diapers, then you had to guess what kind of candy it was. It was a great ice breaker, although a little gross.

A great thing I did for a few showers and the response was great was to put this on the invitations..

Bring A Pack of Diapers any Size
and Enter your name for a really Great Prize..

My friend got 38 packs of diapers (it was a big shower). But none the less it was great since she didn't have to buy diapers till her daughter was 9 mos old.. For the gift I would get a nice $20 value gift (basket or gift card). Good Luck..

My mom just had mine and she found a photo mat that people can sign.. Great gift I am gonna put a pic of me pregnant and put it in my daughters room.

I LOVE baby showers. I've found lots of fun ideas online but here are a couple. For my shower, friends did a "Price is Right" game -- a table full of baby items (wipes, diapers, cream, bottles, toys, etc.) -- and the mommy has to guess the right price, with help from the audience, and she "wins" all the items. :) I've also hosted a couple showers, so here are some other thoughts.

Decorating idea -- hang a clothes line and use clothes pins to hang baby outfits, onesies, socks, etc. It makes a nice backdrop, especially hanging over the gift table.

Another use for clothes pins -- everyone gets one clipped to them when they arrive. Every time someone says the word "baby" (or even the baby's name, if that's known) her clothes pin must be surrendered. So if I catch Mary saying "baby," I take her clothes pin and clip it to my shirt. At the end of the shower, the person with the most clothes pins wins a prize.

Also, diaper cakes are really cute and actually not as hard to make as you might think. It takes about 2 packs of small diapers, lots of rubber bands and some ribbons. You can find video tutorials on YouTube that show you exactly how to do it.

Food -- for something different, you could try a brunch with egg/sausage casserole, muffins, etc. That stuff is easy to make in big batches, affordable and yummy. Cupcakes are cute with the cupcake "tree"-type displays and less intimidating than cake if you are making it yourself. :)

Have fun!

Hey D.,

One thing I did for my best friend and her first baby was a Noah's ark theme and did animal cupcakes instead of the usual cake squares and such. I made lions, pigs, cows, ducks, etc. It was really neat and no one had ever seen anything like it. Also, one great gift and prize idea is have thanks you cards and there envelopes. Have everyone address there own envelope and place it into a basket. Draw for a prize and all the thank you cards are already addressed for your sister. It is really nice!!

Hi D.,
I did two of my friends baby shower and it was so much fun but what was a big hit is I did home made petit fours (I t hink that is how you spell it). I made a yellow box cake once and a pound cake recipe the other time and they were both good. Anyway, you cut the cake into cubes and then dip them in a mixture of a box of powder sugar and 1-2 T. cream with vanilla added and if you want you can add a drop of food coloring to make them different colors. Just eye ball it. I also cut some of them in half and spread rasberry jam in the center and then poured over the icing. This was so yummy. I bought little baby bottles, pacifiers or feet from the party store and piped a little bit of buttercream icing on top and added the decorations. I did cucumber sandwiches and pimento cheese sandwiches. For cucumber you mix cream cheese, mayo and garlic powder and spread on bread squares and add a slice of cuc and then sprinkle with dried dill. Pimento cheese is cheese, pimentos, mayo, salt, pepper. I did a 7 layer salad in a trifle bowl. Get pastel colored m&m's and put in pretty bowls. Done. Make a yummy punch with pineapple juice and gingerale. Sometimes I add a can of peach juice.
Good luck.

I'm not sure exactly how they made this but I think it was very easy. They took thick kleenex and folded it to look like a diaper (with a pocket) and placed mints in the little pocket and then secured the front with a safety pin. I wish I could remember the exact way to fold it, put you could probably find it on the internet. Another thing they done was took a sonogram picture and had it put on the cake. Alot of bakerys are doing that now. Hope this helps and have fun!

Ok - I had mine about this time last year, & I just did my best friend's --

1) I got the Publix stroller cake, as a nice one - they will do it in any color scheme that you can think of.

2) Also, for a more "fun" cake, they can put just about any picture on a sheet cake. Her husband took the most recent "preggers" pic & we had it put onto the cake.

3) I don't know about her, but we both CRAVED Chicken Salad, especially from Chik-Fil-A. They will do a party tray for you, & that is literally the only thing that I "demanded" as far as food, at mine - ha ha ha

4) We made a diaper cake - & it's sooo easy! I would be willing to do it for you, for a very small fee...you just get the materials, & gear it towards her "colors" & nursery "motif". You can either assemdle yourself, or I would be glad to do it.

5) When each quest arrives, have them fill out a blank envelope with their address (use the ones that came with the Thank You cards) - it makes doing those pesky TY cards MUCH easier!!

6) HAVE FUN!!! Don't stress too much, & you will have so much fun - don't be afraid to ask for help -- maybe as each person to bring something (balloons, food item, cups...you get the idea)

For my aunt's baby shower we had ice cream sundaes with alot of toppings in place of cake. Everyone loved it. At my last baby shower we played a rather disgusting but interesting game. Different chocolate candy bars were melted in baby diapers and numbered then passed around. The guests had to write down their guesses. For decorations they hung a baby clothes line across the fire place mantel and I got to keep all of the clothes! Hope you find what you're looking for!

Hi, I am a wedding\ all occasion Party planner. Go mint green. Use candles and mini white twinkle lights wrapped in netting around your food. Place the food on different levels of boxes for presentation (be sure to cover these with material) In the center of the table place a large glass dish of floating candles with rubber duckies or flowers (no stem) of your choice to float in there also. Serve whatever she has been craving. Have fun.

I have a couple suggestions for you. One thing we did for my sister's baby shower is center pieces for each table. She had a large shower and we had 10 tables set up. Each table had a balloon bouquet and the balloons were held down by clear baby bottles filled with M&M's. The M&M's were special ordered on their website and they all had her babies name printed on them.
Then at the end of the shower we did a raffle and sent 10 women home with a center piece for them to keep! It was in-expensive and it looked great!!
We also did a Tip Jar!! This wasn't for money. It was for everyone to write down parenting ideas and suggestions! This way she could get a few tricks of the trade before her little one arrived! This actually was very useful for her and was her favorite part of the party.
Good Luck!! I'm sure her shower will be great!

Congrats to your sister. I love planning baby showers for my friends. I got to these websites for ideas:
www.babyshower101.com
www.babbee.com

They have so many games, recipes and decorating ideas. I did a shower for one of my close friends a few weekends ago and it was guys and girls. We made up a story using the madlib game. Just type in Baby madlibs in your search and you may find some that you can fill in with the words. You can ask the people at the shower to give you the words and then read the story later. As the prizes, we gave away like little kid toys, like bouncy balls, paddle balls, yoyos. I did one where we gave away picture frames, or you can give gifts that will go back to the mom. There are so many different ways to give back to the mom.

I hope that helps! Good Luck!

At a recent baby shower, the host put little rubber duckies that lit up in the punch bowl. It was so cute! They were pastel colored and floating in the punch bowl. I think she said she got them at Kroger.

One thing I loved from my first baby shower was that each guest wrote down baby advice for me. They were all given a small piece of paper and told to write down any advice they'd like to give me. Then all of the papers were put into a jar for me. I have looked over those little papers over the years from time to time. They've been a great reminder of simple things...writing down special moments, taking time for myself, reading to your baby, etc. Everyone had unique ideas to share.

For my shower, my friend got a bunch of stuffed animals and put them in diapers. It was really cute. She also painted some tiny diapers and hung them from clothes pins that said 'its a girl!'. She also got pages for a scrap book (you can get them at the $1 store) and got each guest to fill a page out with wishes and decorate how they wanted. It is fun to look back on the pages and read sometimes...I didnt get to see them until the baby was born. Good luck!
