From what I understand. If you don't have an outbreak, its ok to deliver vaginally. Herpes can be deadly for infants, so if your daughter's 5, she's most likely just fine.

You obviously got it AFTER you had your daughter. Herpes would have shown in the blood tests BEFORE you had the baby. And, you don't get break outs on the top of your a$$.
This is a medical question best answered by your doctor. It is my opinion based on reading and experience that if your daughter did not contract herpes at the time of birth she does not have it. The doctors would've known if she had herpes. Actually the doctor would've known if you had a breakout and wouldn't have allowed a vaginal birth.
You must've recently learned that you have herpes. It takes awhile to get used to that idea. Sit with the information and try to stop worrying about your daughter. The likelihood of her being affected is nil. It's been 5 years and she is fine. Herpes is common now and one who has it is not looked down on by people who've experienced life. I know a woman who has it who has dated and had sexual relations with a couple of men who did not have it and did not contract it from her. It's something to be managed, not feared.
i feel like thats something the doctors wouldve known by now.. i mean its definatley a possibility if its somethign u had before u had her .. id definatley take her to the doctor just to be sure
You really should talk to a doctor and have them explain it...they will have the best information for you.
From what I understand, unless you tell them you have herpes or have an outbreak at the time of delivery, they don't know. The herpes virus is always in your system but dormat and they can't test unless/until there is an outbreak. If you have an outbreak, they typically would require a c-section. Most doctors/hospitals treat all babies with an antibotic ointment on their eyes at the time of birth, as a precaution...it costs basically pennies but can prevent blindness and other complications.
If you weren't having an outbreak, you daughter seems fine, and the doctor's aren't concerned...chances are, you daughter is fine.
No, they don't automatically test for all STD's. They assume if you've had an outbreak at some point, that you saw a doctor for it or would tell the OB or midwife when you are pregnant! Are you sure you contracted herpes before conceiving? It isn't recommended to have a cesarean automatically for a herpes mom unless (a) you have an active outbreak at the time of birth or (b) you have your first ever herpes outbreak during that pregnancy. Surely if you had an outbreak at the time of birth, your OB or midwife would have noticed! When a baby contracts herpes from mom, the baby gets very sick (and typically dies) right away. If you have concerns, you need to direct them to your GYN care provider and also to your daughter's doctor. Good luck
Herpes isn't tested for in a standard STD test. You have to specifically ask for it AND sign a separate waiver for it.
Some people have kickbutt immune systems, and have herpes for decades and never have an outbreak, other people outbreak whenever they get stressed, other people are just outbreak after outbreak.
As long as a mom isn't in an active outbreak (and it would have been noticed in your vaginal exams) it's perfectly safe to deliver vaginally.
