I am trying to find my birth parents. My mother passed away 3 yrs ago and I became more interested in finding out about them after she died. My dad really does not talk much about it and I guess still worries about our relationship even thought we have talked about the adoption. I know I would like to know for health reason for me and my children also so I could have a medical history. I have her name and I know her age and were I was born and that she was living with her brother in another state when I was born. My adoptive parents took me home from the hospital when I was born and the adoption was legal a few month later. So if any of you out there have any ideas I would love some help........ thanks

I found out recently about the ALMA Society when my husband's aunt and the son she had 30+ years ago were reunited. It's an organization that helps adult adoptees find their birth parents: http://www.almasociety.org/. They do charge $50 to register, but it's a one-time, lifetime fee.

I would certainly recommend everything that has already been said, but I would also suggest putting something out there on places like My Space and Facebook. When my friend was trying to locate classmates for a 10 yr reunion (and they were REALLY scattered) she used a combination of all of these things to track people. I would certainly Google as much as you can and keep putting your name out there.

Do you have the name of the brother? You might want to track it through him. Sometimes you have to go through the back door to get in the house. If you don't know what her original state of orgin is you may have difficulty finding her through hs records, etc. If you track the brother you could always backtrack to her through him.

There is also a new show on television I saw advertised called The Locater...perhaps they are looking for candidates such as yourself...maybe you could submit your info and they'll do it for free just to tell your story??? Just an idea...Good luck... I'm glad to hear you're doing this for your kiddos... I tried to get DH to do this for his but he refused and I reluctantly had to honor his wishes. All the best!

I am not sure if this will help but try www.zabasearch.com

If you know her first and last name, it will list most of the addresses she has lived at and sometimes provide phone numbers. Good luck on your search.

I am not sure if you are aware of the show that is on on Saturday evening but it is called "The Locator with Troy Dunn". This show does exactly what you are looking for. The locate lost loved ones. Yes, it is probably difficult to get on the show but maybe they have a website that you can go to for information. I would think that you could find tips there. I wish you the best of luck. I cry every Saturday evening when I watch these long lost loved ones become reunited. It is truly amazing!!!

Best of luck!!!!

To be honest I don't know if this will even help but there are public criminal records that with a first and last name and state you can see any traffic tickets and other public records through. But most of the time when I am trying to find someone I go to whitepages.com and I put in the name, city and state of the person or all that I have information wise and as awkward as it may be I have called alot of numbers with the same name just to see if I can find them through dumb luck but I did find a girl I knew in third grade that way and well her entire family also because I ended up calling a relative of hers that coincidently had the same first and last name.Hope it helps but everyones right if you have the internet you can find other ways just through googling.Type in their name and maybe her brothers name and try to find him if you have it and if that don't work type in trying to find birth parents and see if other sites pop up that may not of been mentioned.Good luck I really hope the best for you on this one:)

I caught a glimpse of a show called the LOCATOR the other day. They do their best to locate and reunite relatives for free. Look them up online. Good luck with your search.

With the internet so much is possible that didn't use to be. If you have her name and think you know the City and State she lives in go to Whitepages.com and start there. Also enter her brother in because he might be easier to locate than she is.

We were able to locate the daughter of a friend of ours who died in June just by knowing her first name, that she had taken the bar exam recentlyand the state she lived in, in less than a days time.

Good luck!!

Have you simply done a google search? Its amazing what you can put in a search and all of the results that show up. You can even check online directories with a name, although you may need a location. You could call 411 and they may be able to work with your minimal information. Also, if you have a friend that is a cop, they can do searches on people and find their addresses!! I hope this helps some!

I've been helping DH search for his birth mother & our best lead came from classmates.com b/c they list with maiden & married names. Of course, they have to be registered for that to work, but it's worth a try. We also paid $4.95 to Intellius to get an email address & names of other relatives. Good luck!

peoplefinders.com has helped me find people that I didn't think I'd ever find. I had a friend I hadn't seen since we were teens (15 years ago), and I put in her name and state and it came back with the people who had that name and their ages, and possible relations. Discovered she was married and obtained her married name through that to contact her. All that was free, you can pay to get additional information, but I imagine if you can just find their location you might be able to 411 and get a phone number. Best of luck! :)

Hi K.!
Have you gotten the birth records from the hospital where you were born? Were you adopted thru an agency or a private adoption? Sometimes they will have contact info.
There are MANY search websites that are free, but it is tedious...and both parties have to be searching for the other...but you can put your name/date of birth, etc.
Another idea, though I'm sure you've probably already done a lot of this, is searching via internet things related to your birth mother's name/where you were born, etc. Some search agents online may have a hidden fee...so watch out.
I wish I had more advice! I, too, was adopted as an infant, but in a state where all the records are sealed to this day.
They are currently trying to pass a bill to allow adoptees get original birth certificates with the names of birthparents or, if the birthparents want to stay anonymous, they will require a health record update every so many years to provide to the adoptee...I am hoping to have some health history for myself and my daughter someday soon!
If you ever want to chat or bounce ideas about your search, let me know! I might start thinking of doing the same. My parents are very supportive and I think adoption is such a great thing!
Good luck!

It didn't cost us anything to find my 1/2 brother. He happened to be looking for us. We went out on heaps of the websites devoted to the cause of matching people up. Knowing his birthdate and city of birth was the key.
