my son recieved a few of the little people toys - the barn, the garage, etc. and he loves them. He is 20 months old now and still plays with them everyday.
Hi Everyone,
My little girl is about to turn one next week (I can't believe it!!) and we are throwing a birthday party. People are asking what they can get her, and I am clueless. Anyone have recommendations of good toys for a child her age that she'll get some real use out of?
Thanks for any and all advice.

Hi R.,
I highly recommend the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Learning Home (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265260) My fifteen month old got this for her first birthday. It has so many things for your baby to do. It is the only toy she has that she consistently enjoys playing with.
Discovery Toys consultants do a birthday registry to insure that your child can get the gifts you want without getting duplicates. Check out Measure Up Cups, Tangiball, Rainfall Rattle, Giant Pegboard, Sounds Like Fun and more at

Happy Birthday!!
a toy stroller is a big hit with every kid that age. also blocks and wooden peg puzzles
Hi R.,
This is a list I put together when I was shopping for my daughter and recommended in-laws a thing or two. We have Maclaren stroller and it still is a HUGE hit. She also loves the pram but we only use it inside, it's like a piece of art. Then we have the Haba blocks that I cannot rave about enough even though she was young for them the exposure is always fun and a shape sorting box.....

Age one is a funny age to but a toy for . But here are some things that all five of my kids have loved! Although a little pricey(Around $100--maybe some can chip in), the Step Two Roller coaster is great. My son ( who is now 12) got it for his first birthday, and loved it. It has been put to good use by his four brothers and sisters. My ten year old still uses it!
Also playskool makes a scooter( about $25)( I think it is for 2 and up but it is always nice to have something to pull out next spring that they will be able to use. This ais a great toy that helps with balance. My 2 year old starting using it when she wasabout 16 months. Also, It think it is made by Step two maybe Little Tykes ( about $50)----a push car that has a pole on the back that you can push them with. The pole can come off when they are ready to use their feet.Maybe you have a large group who wants to chip in a buy a outdoor house. We have a log cabin ( about $300) but gives years of play. Little Tykes , Step two both make variations of outdoor cars for bouth boys and girls---cozy coupe is one. I am all for outdoor toys made by these two. They gives hours not to mention years of fun at a resonable costs. Like I said , one is a funny age to buy for , they aren't quite yet into toys, so it's nice to have something they can either use for years or grow into.
hope this helps!! Happy 1st Birthday!
