I have a fugiS3000 right now, if that means anything to anyone! lol! It is 3.2 mexapixels and has a 6 optical zoom. It is really bulky and it is time for an update. Things that I would like in a new camera is more zoom, faster flashes, and stability when taking a moving picture. I would love any advice to what you have and what you love about your camera. Or if you are a camera expert what you think would be good for me. I only take pictures of the kids for scrapbooking.

What can I do next?

Hi A., I'm also a scrapbooker (and CTMH Consultant!) and I'm also a fan of the Fuji camera. Earlier this year I did want something with more megapixels and a greater zoom, and I found that in my Sony Cybershot DSC-H10/B. It's a wonderful, fast camera with an 10X zoom and 8.1mp. It's awesome for getting those candid shots. If you look online, you can find it for much less than what the big box stores carry it for...just beware of the international 'dealers'. Anyway, the only thing I slightly dislike about this camera is that it doesn't take regular batteries. It's a small price to pay for an amazing camera though. :) Good luck!!

I'll be looking for a new digital camera this summer too. Mine is 4 years old and we think it has a short in it. I love my Sony Cybershot and will probably gravitate to that brand again. I've never taken a bad picture with that camera. One feature that I try to look for is regular batteries (not special lithium batteries). My current camera uses rechargeable AA batteries. I have been on trips before where my rechargeable batteries died and I could just buy regular AA batteries at the nearest convenience store to use until the others were recharged. I don't know how many cameras these days have this feature, especially since many are so small now, but that's pretty high on my list. I also look at what media storage the camera needs, since I already have a certain type of memory stick that I'd like to be able to use in my new camera and not have to buy new ones.

I take the same type of pictures and I have a Sony Cybershot 7.2mp. You can take action pics with it and everything else I need. It is very reasonable too and small.

Hey, I'm a scrapper too. I love my Canon Power Shot A610 that I've had for almost 3 yrs now. Mine is a few years old and slightly bulky, but the newer models are smaller and sleeker in design. I absolutely love my pictures taken with this little camera. It does an excellent job, and the shutter speed is fast so I can take great pics of my moving baby, family and pets...and all my pics are scrapbooked too.

I'm not much of a zoomer, but I'm sure it's fine; I just move closer to subject for a better resulting pic overall. My techno camera geek cousin helped me buy this one a few years back, and he's had every brand of camera under the sun, and his mom and wife both use the same one I have.

The joys of being married to a techno geek lead to much research around our house before any purchases are made :o)
My DH finally settled on one. Canon PowerShot A590IS

Not the sleekiest camera, but for under $200 it's got a ton of features, and I actually don't mind the size because my screen is bigger than my old sleeker camera. I like all the features without spending the high dollar.

I LOVE my camera. It is a panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. It doesn't have a long wait time between each take so you can shoot pictures right after each other without having to wait for the camera to be ready and has image stability which was very important to me. I could never use my last camera since my kids always came out blurry. This one I can catch them jumping in the air. It can record video as well. It isn't huge so nothing bulky to carry around and the view screen is one of the bigger ones. It is 10x optical view and up to 7 megapixels. Many options to change too if you are taking pictures at night, action sports, close up, etc. IT is one of the pricier ones but I am so glad I made the purchase. Beats out spending $100 on several cameras that I was never happy with.

I will say when I bought my last camera having regular batteries was a huge deal to me. This time around I looked more at the quality features I wanted and ended up with a lithium. I actually like it better. I am not having to buy the special batteries for electronic items often. The camera just won't go out on you unexpectedly. With a lithium, it will tell you when it starts to get half full, etc giving you plenty of warning to recharge. So don't worry about missing out on a special event with no battery. Just plug it in and its good to go and last a long time. Good luck!
