I am just wanting to find things to do with my two kids in the Missouri area. Both of my kids are very active and we do not know the area real well.

Hi S.,
Karen had really good ideas. Missouri Botanical Gardens has a new Childrens garden and really cool play area. It pays to be a member. For $60 you get in free all the time and free passes to the Childrens Center, with membership you can also get another adult in for free! They always have special free things going on for kids, members get a magazine every other month with activities. Also, any YMCA has open gym play for kids under 5. If your not a member it's $5, we do this once in a while, check the times, they usually have it once or twice a week for about 2 hours. On Friday nights at the zoo from 5:00-7:00pm they have Jungle Boogie, they have live music and food, it's for kids.
Have fun !!!!!!
I have a 3 year old and an almost 2 year old. We just went to the Magic House last week. They loved it. The Magic House has a special section for under 2 that my youngest one loved. They also love the zoo. If they just want to run around most of the malls have great indoor play areas. The Mills has a huge area and a special area for the little ones so they don't get trampled by the big kids. I don't know what area you are in but there are alot of great parks with wonderful playgrounds for a nice day.
I am broke as a joke (hah) so I like free stuff.
There is Suson Park (out there by Meramac Bottom...you can google it for directions). It is free, and they have a barn w/ cows, horses, pigs, ect. They do a milking demo and other stuff. They also have a sprinkler area for the kids to play in the water and a really good playground. Arnold City Park has a really good playground too (w/ a pond to feed the ducks). From middle of arnold, go north on Jeffco Blvd (hwy 61-67) and turn right just before the meremac bridge on Bradely Beach Rd. Grant's Farm is great (located off of Gravois Rd in South County) and you only have to pay $3 to park. they can see the clydedales, and lots of animals. There is a bird and elephant show and they can feed goats and pet a llama. My kid LOVES it there....and they get to ride a tram over to the animals which is fun. Plus there is a beer garden for the adults (they give you 2 free beers). The Zoo is also free. You can pay to park, or find parking on the street. To see everything at the Zoo it will take a couple of days. The art museum is also free (which is also there in Forest Park) and a lot of people go to Art Hill (the hill in forest park in front of the art museum to fly kites).
if you want to travel a little ways there is also Elephant Rocks (to the south...really huge red rocks that you can climb all over and hike around), North in IL, there is Cahokia Mounds...which used to be an old native american burial gounds. There is also Shaw Nature reserve (http://www.shawnature.org/) it is pretty cool. There is also a farm down south in Grandview school district that is pretty cool..but I would have to ask my mom for the name...so email me if you are interested in that. They do pumpkin pickin in the fall, strawberries, ect.
OH! another good thing is Eckert's! You can apple pick, or other such fruit w/ hay rides, ect. There are also a lot of hiking parks (pickle springs, strawberry creek, ect). You might want to go to www.visitmo.com that is a tourist website...so it will have a lot of good ideas.
I hope this was helpful! I LOVE doing stuff and being a tourist in my own city!

Have you tried Bounce U, yet? There is one in South County and another one in Chesterfield. It is a new place for active kids. The rooms are filled with blow up bounce equipment for all ages. It does get wild and crazy if it is crowded. But it is fun for kids and adults. You pay about for and 1/2 hour for open bounce on Tuesd and Thurs @ S. County, about $6.50 per child. It is worth it to me!
You have so many wonderful ideas here I just wanted to add that you might want to check out the library. I live in St Peters and our libraries always have free stuff to do from story and craft time to movie days and even free magic and music shows. Check out your local branch and see what you can find. Good luck.

Hi, S....you might look into something like Kindermusik. You can find a teacher in your area at www.kindermusik.com These music and movement classes are for newborns to 7 yr-olds (and caregivers) and are split up into different age ranges or there is a class where you can bring one or more children of different ages. Music and movement activities stimulate development in every area of the brain: language, cognitive, emotional, physical, social. It is really a wonderful program. There are also home materials that include CDs, activity books, literature books, instruments...so you can continue the fun at home! The classes are once a week for 30-45 minutes, depending on the class, and are 15 lessons in the Fall and Spring. Summer is also 30-45 minutes, depending on the class, and is usually 5 lessons, which are held once a week or everyday or every other day, etc. Just depends on the educator's schedule. ~L.
