Nancy is the only midwife in town. she is supposed to be really great. i havnt used her, but i know ao many who have. she delivers at st. joe east, which has gotten really good over the years. they used to suck.
I just recently moved to Lexington and need a VBAC friendly midwife/OB practice. I prefer the midwifery model of care, but would consider a pro-natural child birth OB. Please send recommendations my way. I just found out I'm 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and want to get a care provider lined up soon. Thanks!
Thanks for the responses. I have called Nancy at St. Joe's East and she can not deliver a VBAC patient. I also called Lexington Women's Health and they have two new midwives in their practice and all the OBs are VBAC friendly. I plan to meet with Dr. O'nan for my 10 week appt and see what she has to say. There is one more option in Frankfurt - Katie Isaac with Women's Care of the Bluegrass. I interview her Monday, but I've heard she's the best in the state! So at least I have options! Thanks for everything.

Check out Associates for womens care off richmond rd. They have as far as I know the only practicing midwife in Lexington. Her name is Nancy Shirey. She has delivered both of my kids and is SO wonderful. IF I have another little one I will be calling her again. There are doctors in the office too, and they are all wonderful....with the exception of Dr. Campbell, she tends to be very impersonal with her patients. But the other doctors are wonderful.
They will schedule your appointment around your eighth week, so if you are going to go...call soon. ###-###-####.
Good Luck and Congrats.

Nancy is the best midwife I know of - she delivered both of my babies - she has excellent hands and I would recommend her to anyone. St. Joe East was wonderful to work with and regularly allows a midwife to perform the whole birthing process - I hear this is not so at some of the other hospitals here in Lexington. Nancy is with Associates for Women's Care 859/335-4620. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
go to Lexington Woman's health. it's on the 7th floor at central baptist. my 2 main ob/gyn's are Dr Jennifer Fuson and Leah Mitchell. I love them and they are supportive of my decision to have a vbac with my 2nd pregnancy.
Hi L.,
I also had Nancy deliver my baby boy this past December. She is wonderful! I would highly recommend her. I'm not sure her stance on a VBAC, but I would definitely contact her and ask what her thoughts are on it.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Take care,
K.
