Hello, I am in need of a piano teacher for my soon to be 9 year old daughter. For her birthday in June this year she wants to start taking lessons. We do not currently have a piano in our home but will be buying her an electronic keyboard for her b-day. When taking lessons outside of the home it is important to then be able to practice at home I assume? Is learning on a piano and practicing on an electric keyboard at home going to be okay for her or would it be conflicting? I am new to this and wish to do what is best for her learning. Thank you in advance for any input that comes of this.

What can I do next?

Fancy meeting you on here! Sherry has Alexis in piano at a woman's house in Johnsburg. She is finishing up her regular students with a recital and is opening up for the summer for students who just want to give it a try. Her name is Cindy and her number is ###-###-####. She charges $12 per half hour and you pay once a month. Sherry is not sure if she has any openings.
There is also mikes brass and woodwinds in Johnsburg for $20 per half hour with a variety of instructors. Here you can also take voice and piano together. He is located right next to heumans on chapel hill.
Can you believe you got info from someone you talk to everyday!

Hi, J.. I have a teacher in McHenry that I love. A woman who teaches music at a junior high school. She is great with my daughter and she started lessons with her when she was 7. At that time we did not have a piano and started with an electric keyboard. It was fine for awhile, but the keys are easier to push down on a keyboard and eventually she will need to use a piano to gain strength in her fingers. I guess my point is that this teacher will be fine with you starting with a keyboard. BTW, we got our piano for free; just watch the paper, they are in there sometimes. Since she works out of her home, feel free to contact me for her info.

Hi J.!

I live in Trevor, WI and I'd taught piano lessons until I had my 9 mo old daughter. I know I am a little far from you, but if you can't find anyone closer I'd love to give your daughter lessons. I would charge $10 per 1/2 hour lesson and you could pay by the week or month whatever is easier. Let me know if you are interested!
p.s. A keyboard is good to start with in case she doesn't enjoy lessons. It will work until she advances to a higher level.
