So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the great information! Based on responses received, my husband and I have made an appointment with Dr. Tony in Crystal Lake for the end of May. I have total confidence that our daughter and eventually our son will have good experiences at the dentist's office thanks to your feedback. As a child, I spent numerous hours in the chair (when I was young I had over 13 cavities filled) and greatly disliked it since my dentist was not experienced with children.

Dr. Schroeder is very talented in crystal lake. Her partner, Dr. Goldman filled 3 cavities and was absolutely wonderful with my daughter. He was unbelievably patient and explained everything before he did it which is what she really needed. We will continue with Dr. Goldman, but originally went to the office due to the reputation of Dr. Schroeder from my general dentist in crystal lake. Hope this helps. They are the only pediatric group that allows parents to stay with the kids.

Dr. Tony over at Crystal Lake Pediatric Dental!!
He is WONDERFUL with the kids! We have been going there for 2 years, and my kids can't wait to go to the dentist!

I have an Autistic child, so I was looking for a lot in a dentist since my son has sensory issues, and Dr. Tony came highly reccomended.

Good Luck!

I second the previous post about Dr. Leila Younger in Algonquin--she's great! Based on referrals from other moms, I just took my almost three year old there this week and had a good experience--professional, thorough, and great with my crying daughter! I myself have been through a lot of dental work/dentists, and am very particular. True about her limited hrs and you have to file your own ins. claim, but I think she's worth it. Given my daughter's age, I specifically liked that they were ok with me accompanying her to her exam--no way would I go to an office where you were told you weren't allowed back with your child!!
Good Luck in you search!!

We also go to Dr. Tony Minutillo - CL Pediatric Dental. He may not be the cheapest, but his office is top of the line and his staff is great. You don't go back with your kids for the appointment, but are brought back when they are done, to talk to Dr. Tony. When I get back there, my kids always have a smile on their face and are watching one of many TVs they have. Video games in the waiting room too.

My daughter had a cavity filled and it was so painless she actually said it was "fun"....Awesome, but not a great incentive for her to floss more :)

He is located on the north side on Rt. 176.

I also bring my kids (4 year old daughter and 6 year old son) to Dr. Tony Minitillo at Crystal Lake Pediatric Dental. I love the staff, office is nice, and Dr. Tony is great. I have been taking my kids ever since my son was 12 months old.

We went to a pediatric dentist in Crystal Lake-female and it was a terrible experience. She was supposed to specialize with special needs (my daughter isn't but is very afraid of all things medical) and they were very rude to her. They didn't want me going back with her (though I did) and when she was upset with the x-rays they were bullying her, telling her that they would make me leave if she didn't act like a big girl instead of trying to soothe her. The dentist wasn't much better either to be honest. We left a fantastic dentist in Madison, WI so I know they can be decent. We also went 2 times (it was all I could manage) to make sure I wasn't being unfair. If your kids are really easy though I think she would be fine as a dentist though to also be fair.
We then went to Dr. Leila Younger, she is in Algonquin off of Algonquin and she is fantastic. I brought my 2 year old son and he was perfect due to her excellent manner. My daughter went without any issue at all as the dentist was so good. The only issue with them is that they don't do insurance you file it yourself and hours are very limited. However, for us we will do what we have to do to get an excellent dentist and we are quite happy with her.
Good luck!
