We're new to MN and my eldest daughter (she turned three in November)is really ready for preschool. It makes me a little sad to send her, but she needs some more stimulation! I am looking for something a couple of mornings a week, can be Christian-based, near the Como area. Any suggestions? Thanks! Also, any doctor and dentist recommendations? I appreciate it!

What can I do next?

My daughter went to the preschool at St. Anthony United Methodist Church Nursery School. It's not right in Como, but just down Como Avenue in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood. Since it is so close to the University, it attracts a lot of children from other countries, which I like. I was really happy with their program.

Our neighbors LOVE the UofM Lab school!
also, Macalaster-Plymouth sounds like a nice program.

A.,
Grace Church is Roseville has an Early Learning Center that might be what you're looking for that isn't far from the Como area. Their web address is www.gracechurchroseville.org. Go to kids and click on the Early Learning Center. To find out more kid-friendly things to do/go to etc. check out www.twincitiesmom.com. There is a ton of information. Dr. Kurt Witte in the Como area ###-###-#### is a great dentist on 16th and Como. My kids have had him since they were little and now are teens and young adults. Welcome back to the area.

Central Lutheran School has a pre-school program and is right there on Lexington at Englewood. It's a pretty close-knit community. Not sure if it's a 3 y.o. program or not.

My son just finished at Jean Lyle Children's Center which is in Merriam Park and we were thrilled with the program. I know they still have some openings in their 3-day afternoon program for next year.

My child does not attend this preschool, but I've heard good things from some families and it's not too far from Como. I've heard it usually has kind of openings available. I think you may have to wait until closer to fall to be able to get a hold of them again though.

My daughter attends another neighborhood preschool not Christian based, but quite wonderful. But it would be really impossible to get in now! There is a waiting list. I'd recommend that next time you start looking about January for a preschool in the fall if you can't find a great fit. Especially in St. Paul. Good luck!

Hi A.-
You're not too far but St. John the Baptist (catholic/christian based) is in New Brighton. The preschool there was and is worth the drive.
Check it out.
Our peds are in the western suburbs- don't think they have a st. paul office.

Our son went to North Como Preschool on Larpenteur for 2 years and we LOVED it. The teachers there are very kind and creative. Let me know if you want to hear more. I can't say enough good things about it.

I have my daughter enrolled in preschool at North Heights Lutheran Church. Their NeHi preschool is great. This is her first year going and when we went to tour it, they were so wonderful. I since then have met a few of the teachers there in a more social setting and they are such loving, and gentle women. It is located in Roseville, which is a little north of you, but not too far. http://nhlc.org/Ministries/Schools/NeHiChristianPreschool... is the direct link to the preschool page.
Good luck with your search. My daughter turns 3 in August, so we are looking forward to her going and at the same time, sad too! Means she is growing up.. yikes!!
Welcome back to the cities... I think it is a great place to raise kids.

We see a Nurse Practitioner at the Healthpartner's clinic at Como and Eustice (just off Hwy 280 in the St. Anthony Park Neighborhood). Her name is Mary Jane Turnbill and I really like her. We have also on occasion seen Dr. Hubble, and she is great too.
